Help me develop my RP warrior-monk.

I have already created this character, a zen archer inspired by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ky%C5%ABd%C5%8D. He wears robes, and has perks in restoration and illusion (for turn undead and humanoid / beast control). Thing is, illusion is too strong and makes the game quite boring. It's also a very 'magey' school. So I want to go back to the drawing board and refine this character so that his RP is more solid and he is more challenging to play.

I want to stay with restoration as it's very 'monkish' :P. For a second school, I'm thinking alteration. Seeing as monks are capable of incredible feats of physical and mental endurance, the school's armor spells and magic resistance really fit. I think paralysis also fits somewhat (DnD monks can stun). Do you agree?

Playing as an archer without a melee weapon and with little magic to control opponents is a bit messy (my first character was like this before I unfortunately discovered how powerful, and eventually broken, sneak is; it ruined my character :/). Lots of sprint-kiting is needed, which isn't very effective against opponents that can also sprint, or really fast beasts such as saber cats and bears. The bow bash is only mildly useful, but I have read that Power Bash works with bows; can anyone confirm this?

As for the RP, one problem with my character is that none of the game's guilds are suitable for him. But if I make him an evil monk of Mephala, then the Dark Brotherhood would be a great match (I read in uesp.net that the Night Mother is thought to be Mephala). Does an evil monk even make sense?

Anyway, need help in improving my character. Tired of rerolling, so I want this one to be THE ONE.
