Shrine Symbolism

I noticed this today and looked for it on the forums. There was a brief post on it meditated in a more philosophical way, but I thought this could perhaps use some more consideration. Note the shrines for Talos and Akatosh in-game. Initially we see the expected of Akatosh as a dragon, but looking closer we noticed he seems to be willingly swallowing the point-end of a blade. Furthermore, he coils about his statue in a near serpent-like fashion. Now as for the Talos shrines, take Whiterun. The Big statue represents Talos cramming a blade down the mouth of a serpent. And the little statue is what? A blade.

I don't think this imagery is trivial. From both the depiction and even real life anologies the relations to dragons as serpents are noteworthy. Secondly, the position of the blade is interesting and consistent.

It is as if Talos is usurping Akatosh, but in such that Akatosh is allowing it willingly (perhaps so that the current kalpa can continue). Perhaps this supports the dragonborn being an incarnate/version of Talos further. And maybe Akatosh's time as the high god is done for.

Thoughts?
