I used to think Argonian culture in Black Marsh was necessarily small-scale and relatively peaceful due to the environment, but with the Argonians conquering Morrowind after the eruption and making attacks on Elsweyr and even Cyrodiil, that doesn't seem to be true. Then there's the fact that argonians born under the Shadow - 'shadowscales' - are handed to the Dark Brotherhood at birth.

So is my favourite race part of a perverse, caste-driven, expansionist society? Did the countess of Leyawiin actually have a point?
