The Lighter Side of Divayth Fyr

Did anyone else not like him in Morrowind? My initial impression of him was of a mad scientist, but several things he did really didn't sit well with me. For one he seemed really disconnected from the world, growing wives who called themselves daughters whom he still called wives... ick. Also I didn't like how he treated me like a test subject, having me drink his cure only to find out that there was a 50/50 chance of failure. Didn't he even say he expected it to not work at all? I seem to remember him taking a blood sample or something afterwords as well.

More than anything though, there was that general sense that he just either didn't care about anyone or saw other people as nothing more than playthings and slaves, seeing as how his "warden" was a former slave, and he locked up the daughter of that Redoran councilor and just forgot about her.

The forum posts present him as a very well-meaning, sagacious, scholarly type however. What? So Dagoth Ur and the Nerevarine weren't worth taking a non-crackpot attitude towards, but a few rumblings and murmurs about Towers and Dagonites are worth dropping the mania act?
