Greetings fellow players,

I have been playing Oblivion religiously of late - being rather new to the game (I installed it for the first time a few weeks back after the sales on GOTY along with Skyrim's launch compelled me to install it) - and I now find myself at a bit of a crossroads.

Since day one I've been playing a High Elf (custom class Nightblade) that is Neutral Evil (to use D&D terms), never accepting noble do-gooder quests and only taking quests that only advance my own wealth or power. I even joined the DB for fun and profit. So far it's been a blast. However, after a tussle with some vampires I apparently came down with porphyritic hemophilia. I thought I cured it with a cure disease potion but when I went to sleep recently I woke up as a vampire. Apparently I completely overlooked I was still infected and now here I am a blood svcker.

On one hand, there's something about this turn of events that totally blows my mind... something so seemingly random and unexpected has happened that really adds character and flavor to the game. In a way it really fits my character.

At the same time, however, I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to step into this new world of darkness as a creature of the night. The gameplay changes (along with the cosmetic changes to my character) are kind of a put off. I've always flirted with the idea of being a vampire but would have liked to do so under controlled circumstances - on my terms.

So now I have two choices. I can stick with my most recent save where I am already a vampire or revert to an older save (losing about 10 minutes of progress) and get cured.

I know it seems rather silly to hem and haw about this inconsequential issue, I'd just like to hear some views on this situation, particularly if your a player who has been at a similar crossroads. How did you handle it? Was it enjoyable?

I'm just not sure if my character is ready for such a life-changing event :laugh:
