Custom 17 Mappack causing problems??

Post » Tue Apr 10, 2012 2:16 am

I had to reinstall Crysis2 cause it froze my Pc a lot lately while playing. So I reinstalled and downloaded the mappacks I had before (Ignition pack and Crysis 2 SiTH-fVic MAP-PACK 3.0
So far so good and my Pc didn't freeze for a couple of days (Yeee!!)

Untill yesterday when I downloaded the 17mappack from here; http://www.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=44708

It contained new maps which weren't in the mappacks I already had (boat, gardens, grounds, high_tides etc) So I installed that one too and let it replace the maps that were already there (from Ignition pack and fVic-pack), cause there didn't seem to be another way. After installing this 17mappack though, my Pc froze again after the second game dammit!!??????????

What went wrong and how do i tackle this problem? Is there a way to only download the new maps ((boat, gardens, grounds, high_tides etc) so I might avoid freezing? What else can I try. I really want to be able to play the mappacks I mentioned above..

Running the game on a Windows 7 pc with 4GB RAM, AMD Triple Core 2.8 and Crossfire 5770.

1. Run the installer version of the map pack. This will create an uninstaller that will remove ALL of the maps, and ONLY the maps.
2. Run the uninstaller...
3. Your PC will still freeze.

Inexplicable crashing in certain areas of this game is almost always solved by hardware. It may be that a certain area in a certain map is triggering the crash, but the solution is still likely to be found in the computer not the maps. Using the installer version to uninstall and reinstall will have the added benefit of guaranteeing a clean map installation.

Hopefully you dont have power supply issues (OCCT can be very helpful here)... Reseating your RAM and expansion cards is easy and sometimes worthwhile... If you have any new USB devices or background software running remove them...

There are many good threads on this forum regarding sudden inexplicable Crysis 2 crashing. Most are resolved by either slightly raising GPU voltages or slightly downclocking the CPU or RAM timings, even when the computer "works with everything else".

Good luck! We saw you on the server the other day, and hope to see you there again soon!

Viva la Maps!

typical hardware error. If a file would be damaged or missing the game would give you an error message BUT not freeze your pc.

Btw. THE MAP PACK DOES NOT REPLACE ANY EXISTING GAME FILES!

in you case my bets are the psu or your ram...
