A Different Land Part 6

Post » Sun Nov 08, 2009 4:52 pm

((Well sixth thread, should finish the story soon:

The G.E.C.K is in the hands Nathan and Henry, as Starr prepares to destroy Roy's tower, hopefully with the creature in it. Demetri has decided that survival is the better option, the G.E.C.K having caused to much blood and is trying to get everyone out.))

Demetri ran to the door, breaking out into a low sun as it was setting. Demetri carried on running until they had run to the other side of the plaza the tower looked over, a large group of tribals and settlers were around, watching the tower as it strained under it's own weight. Demetri watched, praying to god that Starr would get out alive, and that Tom would also, "Come on," Demetri said under his breath.

Starr turned around and began to leave the building when she heard a cough. She spun around, and saw Tom.

"Tom! Are you alright?" she asked as she ran to him.

She pulled his arm over her shoulder and tried to help him get out of the building. The two were making slow progress to the door when they heard the scream of the Creature. Starr tried to move faster, but Tom's weight was a lot for her to handle, even with him helping her. She looked back and thought she saw a claw coming out of the wall. Starr and Tom soon made it out the door.

"Step back! This buildings coming down!" she yelled to everyone.

Starr looked at the building and pushed the switch. A low boom could be heard from below, and then the building began to fall.

Demetri watched the building collaspe, Starr had set the charges well, the building collasping straight down. Demetri covered his eyes as dust and dirt was thrown up, most of the tribals and settlers had run off. Demetri pulled his pistol out as the rubble moved, the creature pushed it' self out, it's carapace cracked and chunks broken off, it's movements sluggish. The creature crawled forward, using it's claws to drag himself along.

Demetri pointed his weapon at the creature and watched it make it's attempt. As the creature got close it collasped, breathing heavily, it let out a low growl and looked up to the ones that had caused it much pain since their arrival, "I... am... King," it said to everyone suprise, it could speak? Demetri crouched down next to it, knowing that the creature's life edged away, with one last gurgle the creature slumped down to the ground.

"Bloody hell," Demetri said, "We finally got it." Demetri sighed and slumped down next to it. "What do we do? Go home?"

Tom swimmed through his own subconsious, eventually breaking the surface and emerging from semi-consiousness. He realized that Starr was carrying him. "Thanks, but I think I can stand now" said Tom, righting himself. He looked over for Demetri and Mark, seeing Demetri next to the creature. Tom bent down uncomfortably and observed it. He noticed that some of it's legs had large scars on them, as well as around its arm. 'From Tom, to It' he thought before raising himself to his feet once again. "Guess we finally got it. Where's the GECK?" Tom asked, looking around.

OOC I think this RP was very epic, just like any real adventure should be. Hurray for the Enclave!

"Well, without that Vertibird its gonna be a loooooong walk. Better start walking now!" Henry wished to leave Florida a soon as he could, he had overstayed his welcome. He tried to find a radio which could link him to command for a faster way out but it seemed like they were just going to have to go the old fashioned way. Henry didn't wish to stay with Demetri for long lest he somehow regrets letting the GECK go and try to take it back from him. "Come on Nathan! Better get an early start to get to that train tunnel eh! Once there its just one long boring walk. Unless the train is still there!" Henry felt like a great burden was lifted off of him with the death of the creature. He hoped that none of the juveniles had escaped or it would cause a whole lot of trouble, considering how hard it was to kill this one. Some secrets were better off not told.

Demetri watched Henry and Nathan leave, forgetting about the G.E.C.K, Demetri picked himself up and sat on a bench nearby the plaza and looked at the rubble. Well their pay as been forfiet, they'll have to go home empty handed and deal with it. Demetri sat there for ten minutes, the sun setting and darkness covering the sky.

Demetri looked up, hearing a strange noise, an engine, wait... Two engines. Demetri looked and saw whated seemed to be armoured trucks, "Half traks?" Demetri asked stunned, "Where'd they get Half Traks?" Demetri watched as a group of heavily armed men came out the back of each one, but what drew his attention, was the man getting out the passenger seat of the armoured vehicle, very tall and very handsome man, he sent a few orders out. Demetri guessed that was their commander, but something else drew his attention again, brotherhood of steel members, three of them.

Their commander ran over to Demetri with a smile, "Demetri Green I assume?" He asked
"Yes," Demetri replied, "Who are you?"
"Sorry about that, I'm Captian Baldur, leader of these men, my father was your employeer."
"So we finally have a bit more."
"Sorry about the secercy, we are part of the armed forces for the New California Republic."
"You're a long way from home."
"Yes we are, we were sent out to get an idea of what the rest of America doing, and those brotherhood members joined us to get any tech, it was a deal to get those." Baldur waved at the half traks, Baldur turned away briefly, "Get the camp set up! Then start scaving the ruins, see what we Dig up!" he ordered

One of the brotherhood men ran over, upon closer inspection Demetri could see these weren't the usual armour worn by those in D.C, Demetri waited as they talked, Baldur nodded as in agreement, the man left, "Sorry about that, I think he maybe a robot, doesn't care about anything but his duty," Baldur said with a smile, "Now, about you, well more the G.E.C.K, any idea where it is?"
"Nope, the enclave have it, I gave up with it," Demetri replied
"Nevermind, we'll get it soon, we arn't the only group from the NCR here, this is only a small portion."

Baldur looked at the rubble of the tower quickly. "You do that? Good with explosives arn't you."
"I didn't do it, Starr did."
"Well good job anyway, now I'm sure you're hungry and need medical assistance, Stitch! Get over here and see to their wounds!"

Demetri heard a 'Yes Sir!' some distance away, "That would be noce, thank you," Demetri said to him, "But what about your G.E.C.K?"
"You got it, and we're going to get it thanks to you, I think you still get your pay." Baluder replied and walked off, with a happy whistling. Demetri looked at the others, the look of wonderment on his face.

Mark said, "So we're still getting paid, now what to do with the money?" Mark then walked around the ruins and found Det curled up into a ball. Apparently, he'd gotten out in the nick of time. Mark picked up Det and said, "I guess we could try Point Lookout, I hear there's lots of treasure that hasn't been looted yet."

Demetri shook his head, "Don't fancy doing anything like this again," Demetri said, "Think I migh retire, maybe work as a guard on the caravans occasionaly." Demetri looked at the medic fix Tom's wounds up, she was doing a good job at it. Demetri looked into the rubble, seeing something glisten in the lights set up by the soldiers, Demetri felt in his pocket and realized they weren't there, picking them up he found those were his Dogtags, "How did these survive?" Demetri asked himself, shrugging it off, he cupped them in his fist and was about to put it into his pocket. Demetri instead at the last moment decided to put them around his neck, hanging there, putting them under his shirt as to not move around to freely, I felt he had a right to wear them again, he had done a good accomplishment, and would use them to remember his dead comrades.

"Captian!" Demetri called to Baldur, "What do we do about going home?"
"Don't worry about that, I take you to the train tomorrow morning in one of the Half traks, need to deliver a report anyway!" Baldur shouted back.
Demetri nodded and got his companions to group up, "Well, back home tomorrow, suppose it's been an honour," Demetri said with a smile, "Even though we have almost died countless times, the trips been different."

OOC: that was fun. we shall need to do it again sometime.
Nathan had stated at the beginning of this trip that it would be far more trouble than it was worth, rolling down a forgotten highway in a stolen half-track with an enclave soldier by his side was not how he would have ever foreseen the end of these events but here he was, hope for him at the very least was on the horizon and perhaps an excellent ally gained from this entire mess. Nathan had taken a fragment of the creatures shell as a souvenir wrapping some old leather and a few strings into a necklace so as to have proof of this big fish story in years to come.
////
A rat scampered past the congregation of humans munching on the still warm corpse of a beast far greater then it.
The rat chewed and was ignored finishing the meal, with a swift movement it was gone into the forest.
had anyone cared to look they would have felt the rats shadow was not quite right but no one did and it was not mentioned.

OOC Best RP in a while

Henry rolled along on the highway smiling, those NCR foosl didn't even pay attention as they stole one of their half-traks and were now having a jolly time going back home. The NCR guys would just have to fit into one half-trak, the Enclave always gets the last laugh. "Indeed this was a long and hard fight but the Enclave always prevails! God bless America!" He started humming a patriotic tune and took out the banner that he always kept, and hung it on the back of the half-trak.

OOC: It was a blast RPing with you guys.

Mark saw Nathan and Henry drive off in a stolen half-track sporting a "Mission Accomplished" and thought, "Hopefully Henry can bring some change to the Enclave, he was definitely the most honorable Enclave soldier I ever met, perhaps this country could rise once again someday under his leadership. At the same time, I also hope that Nathan doesn't get shot by Enclave hardliners once they reach the Capital Wasteland" He then looked at the creature and said, "I'm glad that thing is dead, now the people of Florida can breathe easier." Mark then saw giant, mutated turkey vultures arrive to scavenge the creature's corpse. He then said to Det, "Let's go my little friend, I still have the figure out some way to keep you cool once we reach the Capital Wasteland." Mark then said to Dimitri, "Yeah, working with you guys was pretty awesome, though we lost a lot of people along the way."

OOC: This was a blast, hopefully you can do more of these Blackmane.

Starr looked at her friends, then at their employer. She sat down on the curb of the street and sighed.

"I'm not to sure about what to do next..." Starr began.

She was cut off by Captain Baldur, "If its not to much to ask, I'd like to see you in one of these." He pointed to his power armor.

Starr smiled, she was going to be a soldier again.

((OOC: Glad you enjoyed it, I thought this RP was different at the time of when it was started which was mainly BoS or Enclave based ones. Last post for this RP, again glad you enjoyed it. I may start another RP in the future, so lookout if you like.))

It was a few days later, Starr had stayed with NCR, becoming a soldier, Tom, Mark and Demetri had traveled back to the Capital Wasteland, with their reward. Demetri looked at the familiar desert of the the wasteland. "Well we're home," Demetri said, "I guess we part ways here." Demetri set himself ready to go, adjusting his pack onto shoulder, getting after the NCR had given them food and weapons for their journey.

Demetri gave a nod to his companions and left for Megaton. Demetri thought about his experiance in Florida, it had been different, it had put his survival to the test, and the others. Demetri believed he had come out a better man for this, but it wasn't another experiance we wanted to relive, no matter what. Demetri heard the caps knock together in the large pouch he was given by the NCR for his job, there was enough there to live out a quiet life in comfort, though Demetri doubted he would stay down for long, hopefully the caravans won't mind him guarding them every so often. Demetri smiled to himself, maybe life would be good for the rest of his days.

Mark watched Dimitri walk off towards Megaton. At that moment he picked up a radio broadcast on his Pip-Boy saying, "If you crave adventure, come to Point Lookout, a treasure hunting goldmine." Mark said, "Well, I'm off, see you around Tom." He then ran in the direction of the signal, Det on his back, while thinking, "I've heard the region has subspecies of Mirelurks and Ghouls, it'll be perfect for the next volume of my book." Since they'd gotten back, Mark had been making books about the creatures of the regions he had visited. He had just finished a book on the fauna of the Capital Wasteland, and he was currently working on a book about Florida's flora and fauna.

Once he reached the Duchess Gambit, Mark said to Det, "Looks like the beginning of a brand new adventure. Hopefully it'll be better than Florida." The captain, a red-headed woman named Nadine, gave the all clear, and they were off. As they sailed down the Potomac, Mark said, "I wonder what Punga Fruit tastes like.", before the steamboat was out of sight.

(OOC: Great RPing with you guys. We had a pretty good run. 5 whole threads beats alot of others around here. We'll have to do it again sometime)

Now that Tom was back in the Capital Wasteland, he didn't really know what to do. He reached into his bag, rustling around for a while before pulling out the Pip-Boy he had taken. Tom looked at it for a while, imagining what would happen if he put it on. He started to, opening the clasp and reaching his hand through before thinking better of it, and dropping it back in his bag. 'Maybe later...' Tom thought as he watched Mark and Demetri leave. With a sigh, Tom headed off towards Rivet City. He had pocketed a book on rust removal, Tom thought would be very interesting to the people there. He took the Browning and strapped it across his back. Tom started walking once again, relaxed for the first time since walking into Moriarty's in Megaton...
