More amusemant at Todd's claim of "totally rewritten eng

Lots of LULZ to be had folks!

Now, I realise that we all know already that Creation Engine isn't actually a "new engine rewritten from the ground up" as Todd claimed - but I am still finding it damn hilarious just how little Bethesda actually bothered to at least PRETEND that lie was real. Two more funny examples:

- There is a V.A.T.S flag that you just have to have ignore completely in the Creation Kit. Hahaha.

- There is a "Ignore Normal Weapon resistance" flag that is from Oblivion but not used at all in Skyrim.

Ahhhhh, Todd Howard. The rate you're going - you're going to pass Peter Molyneux with respect to ... er.... shall we call it "liberal exaggeration of fact" ? *wink

I'll just leave this here:

I. Don't. Care.

I get it, you're unhappy with Skyrim. If you're so upset that the Creation Engine is a doctored suped up Gamebryo engine then, GO PLAY A DIFFERENT GAME.

No one cares, least of all me.

Developer claims have for years been subject to the whims of PR departments. Which is why I never pay any attention to claims of this sort, regardless of studio. Now, some indie developers I do trust, but those in the games industry are simply parroting whatever they've been told will sell a game.

The above-mentioned doesn't really sound like "game engine" stuff to me. It sounds as if Bethesda is reusing sections of workable game code from previous games. It seems like a reasonable thing to do, actually. If you have a functional routine that runs correctly in a new application, why reinvent the wheel? Just haul in the code, ignore the parts that don't apply to your new purpose, and save a lot of time and debugging.

Methinks that very little of what you are seeing in the Creation Kit is "game engine."

Don't we have enough of these flame-Bethesda/Todd Howard/Whoever threads elsewhere in the forum. I'm sorry it sticks in your craw and all, but this thread just really isn't necessary, you aren't really talking about the games in the series, your just kinda trash talking typical game pre-publicity stuff.

The Creation Kit, as someone noted is not a "Game Engine" either. It's a development tool.
