Very Strange Mod Issue

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 11:22 pm

I recently got around to installing Morrowind on my new computer, but I've encountered an odd issue (sort of a non-issue really) when installing mods. Basically, I downloaded the mods I wanted, extracted them to data files like normal, and opened up Wrye Mash to make a few load order corrections. All the mods I installed showed up in Mash, but when I actually went in to my data files folder, the only esps that actually appeared were Better Bodies and the Morrowind Code Patch Showcase. When I started the game up, all the mods were running fine, but It still sort of bugs me.

I used a bit of deductive reasoning and concluded that both Better Bodies and the MCP Showcase were you only mods installed with an exe, and the rest were extracted with 7zip or with the default windows file extractor. I went to the Morrowind directory in 7zip and when I entered Data Files all of the esps were showing.

So, basically almost all of my Morrowind esps are working properly, but are somehow invisible in my Data Files directory. I know it isn't really a huge issue, but I'm a bit OCD and I'm really hoping someone can explain this.

Edit: Might as well toss in some pictures in case I didn't explain the issue well.

But almost all added mods/folders don't appear in Windows Explorer: http://i.imgur.com/jTMB8.png

Edit: One more quick update, it seems like this isn't exclusive to just Data Files, I checked to see if any other files were missing in the Morrowind directory and a few other extracted things likes readmes aren't appearing there either.

This was the first thing I tried after a quick Google search, didn't work.

I'll also add that any folders/readmes and other files that were extracted to data files don't appear either.

Urgh, that is quite aggravating. Thanks for the quick help, I'm guessing installing Morrowind to somewhere besides Program Files would correct this?

Yeah, that would likely help. Win7 and Vista deal with people altering files in the regular Program Files in a very facepalm-worthy manner, so it's always best to install anything that's going to be modified outside of it.
