I turned off OB's music for one character, I completely enjoyed the ambient sounds.
Having said that. I LOVE ob's music just as I loved Morrowinds.
I have a very difficult time hearing Skyrims music. I upgraded my sound card and put in the surround sound and still it's so muffled. I tried all the tips suggested. It's just really really quiet.

On a side note. I used to leave the screen where you load OB and just see the map, and let that music play endlessly as I did my work.
