The Lonesome Ending.

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 12:57 am

WARNING:

The following topic contains spoilers, if you have not beaten, played, or even attempted The Lonesome Road DLC OR never beaten Fallout: New Vegas AT ALL do not continue.

Ok, so you're playing FO:NV and having a fun time. You realize you've beaten the game so many times, you have memorized every ending, but have yet to crack into The Lonesome Road. You have just downloaded this amazing DLC, and as you try entering, it warns you to be atleast level 25. Wow, that's quiet a level suggestion! You say to yourself. Maybe this is a new way to finish the game.

You fight through many new enemies, many vicious creatures, and end up where you've been going this entire time. The courier, Ulysses, stands in front of you, with missiles surrounding him, and other Eyebots working fast on these weapons of mass destruction. You realize, "Hey, Ulysses looks like a general badass! I want to side with him!" Your speech is perfected, so you decide to do all the speech choices. But, as you try sweet-talking him, he rages on you, and decides you're an enemy. "WAIT, ULYSSES I LOVE YOU!" You yell at your T.V, raged that your epic looking courier pal hates you (depending on what happens, yah.)

All this time, you've wanted to partner with this dred-locked badass man. Now, you're mad. "Why can't me and him bomb the wasteland?" You ask yourself.

Well, Bethesda hates people with dredlocks. Not really, but, I thought he was an epic boss. I would have ended the game right there, me and him, owning the wasteland. I know they planned for you to fight him, and win, stopping the missiles (or bomb the NCR, Legion, or both) but I, I wanted the whole of the wasteland to suffer. It has injured me in many ways, I've been shot at, attacked by centaurs, and even beat up by ghouls with bloodlust.

So what I'm saying, is I wanted to destroy the Mojave (and all that other stuff) to join Ulysses. WHY CANT I JOIN HIM!

By the way, in the next Fallout, I want dredlocks. Please, it would be amazing. Thank you.

I like what obsidian did with this!
Even if you have perfect speech, but don't know enough about Ulysses and choose the wrong conversation topic, he gets mad!

You cannot destroy the Mojave(Unless you side with House, assuring its doom).
You can kill Ulysses and nuke the [censored] out of both NCR and CL.

If you side with anybody BUT House the Mojave is doomed, your facts are messed up.

And you can kill every single character in game but I feel that is the worst kind of anarchy, even worse than Independant when you get nobody's help.

I see.
Do you play on PC? There might be a mod for that.

I play on PS3 so do not scold me if none exist.

House watchs over Vegas and lets the rest of the Mojave live at peace, only communicating with them if they need his help or if he needs there help.

And yes, everybody besides kids you can kill. Everybody besides Yes Man you can perminantly kill.

Doing the entire Mojave Wasteland as if it had been nuked again would be insane for a DLC. In general, the interest for it and the amount of people who would actually discover the option isn't very high. So that would be why . . .

If you want, you may get Ulysses to not kill you and also nuke Dry Wells and part of the Long 15.

I also play New Vegas on the PS3, and I was just letting my mind wander, wondering what the slides would look like after new vegas and surounding areas got nuked, and to hear about how Ulysses and the Courier moved on, to try to accomplish more of Ulysses' plans. It's just a cool thought that came to mind, and I can see people making an evil person, just to nuke everything

But you can.

Ulysses not only requires 90 or 100 speech, but he also expects certain generic answers from you or you'll piss him off. You apparently chose the wrong responses.
But yeah you can be peaceful with him and then carry out his plan. Technically Ulysses only wants to cut NCR's supply line but yeah, you can nuke Dry Wells too. He doesn't get upset.

That's true Longknife, and I'm planning on bombing NCR or Wells or both this next playthrough (idk yet) but I really wanted to destroy the entire wasteland just for the hell of it.

In Dead Money you can join Elijah. He releases the Cloud over the entire Wasteland, thus killing them all...game over.

And the Legion and the Brotherhood and the Enclave Remnants and everything else. You need to be Vilified with the NCR to get this ending.

Oh I did not know that Lobotomite (then again I never got Dead Money because about 3/4s of everyone I talked to said it wasn't good as the others)

Thanks for the feedback

Because you said the wrong thing. You can "join" him in a sense in that you can talk him down and elect to nuke both NCR and Legion territories. It just takes more than a silver tongue to do it. You need a little bit of know-how and empathy to understand him; you have to listen to what he says to you throughout the DLC, both directly to you and in the audio logs he's left around, to understand his point of view. Misunderstanding him, or not bothering to get his point at all only serves to tick him off and resent you even more than he already does.

That's true Longknife, and I'm planning on bombing NCR or Wells or both this next playthrough (idk yet) but I really wanted to destroy the entire wasteland just for the hell of it.
That is not what Ulysses wants! He's not an anarchist who wants to nuke everything just because. He sees all the nations that have sprung to be inherently corrupt and ultimately doomed to failure. What he wants to do with the nukes is effectively accelerate their collapse and hope that a better nation will arise from their ashes.
