Do you add on to the MQ?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 2:01 pm

So i was wondering if people added on to the main quest line by doing things like pretending whoever your working for told you to go do something even though they didn't, for example im doing a house playthrough and instead of going to find the boomers i gona pretend that he told me to do some traveling in the mojave to look for resources and eliminate threats to vegas. I feel it really helps to make the game longer and more enjoyable so i was wondering if anyone else did this.

It's a pretty good idea, I'll probably try it on my next playthrough or when and if I get bored of the game.

Well, you can just walk out of the door and do stuff. You don't need an excuse for it, since there is no time limit.
But yes, I do this. I do the main quest in long pauses.

I occasionally put a reasoning behind it, but usually only if I'm doing a semi-serious roleplay.

For instance, in one of my characters I did the Helios quest with the idea that I was under House's auspices. Or I was wiping out the Powder Gangers because they posed a threat to New Vegas's economy.

I like to RP, but I found that there is a lot to do in New Vegas, tons of locations and lots of quests, so, I really had no time to make up quests. :D Well, I usually RP in the way that when I'm on a quest and it's a good distance, I have to find shelter for the night, or find food or water, stuff like that. :)

Yeah I RP quite a bit. Like eliminate an enemy stronghold without getting caught. Plant explosives and explode silly NCR troopers. Fun stuff, you know.

Even though the game's divided into quests, I just let my immediate actions respond to the "now" of what's happening. I start in Goodsprings and explore. Based on my character concept, my reactions to people and eagerness to choose where to go next right away never follows the rigid "must complete this quest first" timeline.

One of my favorite things to do is to attack enemy bases with "advanced tactics". You know do things like assassinate people, get high value tech, or just killing raiders. Btw if anyone knows of good places to do stuff like that and stay on good terms for an indy vegas give me a heads up!

Mutants are pretty cool guys. I wish there were more ways to help them in this game. Just the ones in that super mutant city, Lily, Dog and God, possibly repairing Rhonda, and that's about it.

I have never actually tried to do this and I am thinking of doing it now. I am only on my first gameplay and I am still trying to achieve my main goal in it. Which is basically do every quest, and obtaining all the weapons and armor/clothing.
