Well, after nearly destroying my eyesight from reading the OP, must say i pretty much agree with most of what he said.

OP may have hurt my eyes but I agree with him, I've been playing Morrowind since 05 and i still enjoy it more then oblivion and skyrim and an added bonus I get to hear my friends critize me because I have skyrim and refuse to play it as much as Morrowind :P it makes me lol.

Yeah, of course. We'd need a journal where it's written down. I can see just having NPC's tell you directions, without having them written down would be an issue. Just, you know, actually give us the information required to play without the compass!

I agree, and would like to add that they should bring back 'mark' and 'recall' for players who wish to play Morrowind-style.

I'm really happy to see that people feel the same way I do about Morrowind, even if I did play it when it came out. I always get yelled at for saying how great it is because of the nostalgia, in that it was just great because of the timing and such. I honestly believe it's just an incredible game regardless, my favorite of all time. I have a hard time believing it'll ever be beaten for me!

I think my greatest regret in life is that I never got my hands on a collector's edition. I can't imagine what it'd feel like to open it for the first time.

wall-o-text.

Punctuation, use it.
Yes... please

I always refuse to read texts like that. It hurts my eys and it hurts my brain trying to read it. That said, welcome to Morrowind. You′re gonna have a blast, presuming you hit whatever′s attacking you ;)

Welcome to a quality game! I've spent around 100 times more time in Morrowind than I have with Skyrim, and around 80-90 times as much as I did with Oblivion. Only real RPG games you find these days are pen&paper and old games.

I wish you a happy decade in Vvardenfell!

Welcome to Morrowind man.
The only game in my recollection that claimed over 700 hours of gametime, spread across several years: playing it a few months, taking a few months break and do other games, return and restart.

Its still in my opinion one of the best RPG's out there for its sheer size, characters, customizibility and challenge - for mage characters at least :)

I remember my first time playing that as a mage, being asked by the fighters guild to fetch a Dwemer box from a ruin outside of town and running into a NPC on a bridge that came at me with his skeleton summons and conjured weapons, having my butt kicked numerous times since I was poor and had such a limited selection of spells.
Fun times.

Hey Bone I'm feeling the same wa. I got a second-hand copy of MW last month and I'm loving it. Skyrim has taken a backseat.

So i had never even heard of TES back when morrowind was released and i remember thinking it looked interesting but not really for me.Didnt have a computer for gaming or an xbox so i never got to give it a shot. When oblivion came out i was really pumped for it.i had seen pictures and video previews and read hands on previews and thought the game looked incredibly ambitioius and amazing. having never played en elder scrolls game i didnt really know what to expect but my hopes were high. i was hooked instantly after i escaped the sewers and began to wander. i had never felt the same sense of freedom and adventure that i got from oblivion before. it really blew me away and after maybe 500 hours i was done with it. i was now a huge fan of Tes but i didnt even think about getting into morrowind.it just looked too archaic and didnt interest me.i never thought id be able to get into it and that oblivion had probably spoiled it for me anyway, being a newer entry. when skyrim was announced and i saw the trailer i had huge expectations for the game and scoured the net for videos and preview stories constantly until it was released. and for the most part skyrim really delivered for me. it was beautiful, epic, deep and just so immersive.ive put roughly 400 hours in across a few characters and i have definitely enjoyed it but it didnt give me the same feel as oblivion.everything about skyrim seems better to me but i just remember loving the [censored] out of oblivion more.nostalgia maybe.anyway after the 400 hours i clocked in on skyrim i really has a good feel for the lore and it became a large and enjoyable aspect that i hadnt really appreciated before.i love collecting and reading those books. so after reading countless complaint threads about skyim and oblivion and hearing all the stories and reasons why the series was dying and how great morrowind was i finally had to check it out for myself. and it just felt like i was missing a huge part of the lore and that if i played morrowind i would have a better sense for the history and would at least be able to enjoy the story if not the archaic gameplay.. well ive been playing morrowind for the past two weeks and havent gone back to skyrim. im playing the original vanilla version of the game and it has honestly amazed me. this game came out so long ago and it is no doubt bigger and in many ways better than skyrim. i am blown away by the detail of everything and the atmosphere is incredible. the way you go about doing quests with actual descriptions of landmarks and directions is the most impressive to me and this needs to be brought back. screw the compass and world map from skyrim the morrowind system is leagues better and way more fun to explore. morrowind is actually challenging and rewarding in a way that oblivion and skyrim could never be. somehow the horrendous draw distance and constant fog even add layers of awesome atmosphere. after 80 hours in i feel that i have barely scratched the surface and i almost feel weird saying that i am enjoying this more than skyrim. this game has real soul and regardless of the combat mechanics it has definitely stood the test of time. i am impressed, and while i loved skyrim and oblivion, very dissapointed in the way the series has changed.

*love*
