UK Version all patched up?

Post » Tue Nov 10, 2009 4:39 pm

Hi, I ordered what I am quite sure is the UK version of Morrowind GOTY on Amazon.ca (It has US box art but is from UK seller and is cheap. US version would be more expensive as it's now rare.)

Is the UK GOTY all patched up like (I think) the NA version is? Or are there more Bloodmoon patches to apply?

All GOTY version are fully patched, and need no official patches.

But what does the box that you bought look like?
Some old editions say "Game of the Year" but will be grey, http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/4/915084_75143_front.jpg but are not GOTY. (they just won "game of the year" awards.
The official GOTY will be gold, and have the additional symbols from Trib/BM http://www.legendra.com/media/covers/xbox/the_elder_scrolls_iii___morrowind___game_of_the_year_edition___amerique.jpg

Don't worry, it's definitely the GOTY. http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0000CNUUP/ref=oss_product

I presume they're selling it through the UK seller because it's out of print and they still make the cheap DVD case versions.
It counts as the "official Amazon product" though.

Btw, the GOTY comes with the official plug-ins right? I think they were like a couple new armour's and weapons, perhaps some books. Can't remember.

No.
the official plug-ins are not included, but can be downloaded for free http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Official_Plug-ins (or possibly at the official site, now that it's been updated again)

If you want to install the two unofficial patches (highly recommended) I made a thread with links to them, and more info, http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1060141-mod-recommendations-for-new-players/page__p__15392814#entry15392814 :)

(They are the Code Patch and Patch Project.)

Wow, the code patch looks amazing! I think I'll get it. Since I haven't beat the expansions yet, only the MQ I still want to go Vanilla to replay the MQ but this seems faithful. I just won't use the updated graphics/new stuff that it has.

Edit: The Morrowind Patch Project seems to fix a lot of bugs too. Do you really need both? Is there a lot of redundancy?

They work in completly different ways. Morrowind Patch Project (called MPP) is technically a large plugin that fixes many in-game bugs, like dialogue and quest bugs. On the other hand, Morrowind Code Patch (MCP) patches Morrowind.exe to fix several hardcoded issues.
