Do the random bounty hunters annoy you?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 11:17 pm

In the game, I found that the random bounty hunters that came after you useful in a way because they were never to hard to kill but eventually after days worth of playing the game (game time) then I found the random easy kills to become somewhat annoying, just wondering if anyone else found any befits to these or also just finds them annoying.

In FO3, they do not appear as much. But in New Vegas, that is when they get annoying (Cesaers Legion, in my case.)

Talon Company Mercs I found annoying as hell. First: because they are predictable. Two: You can't join them. Three: You can't talk them out of attacking you. Mercs that can't be bought? that's just stupid. Fourth: They only go after good guys? That is also stupid.

I dont like them because I've not disarmed the bomb, only done 2 quests, Those! & WSG yet they still attack me for no reason.

If you've got good or evil Karma mercs will come after you periodically, the quests don't really matter.

I found them useful. I would use the gear they dropped; guns, armor, etc.., to repair my own.

In one playthrough I was playing as a Neutral character when all of the sudden I got attacked by Regulators. Then sometime later I got attacked by Talon Mercs as well. There is nothing interesting about them to be honest (even if you decide to get the "Lawbringer" Perk). They just ended up being as generic as Raiders. Except the Pitt Raiders...at least they felt more real. The only useful things about them is for EXP and the gear they drop but I felt that it was cheap. Things are practically given to me.

Only one set will come after you if you're neutral and that's only if you disarm the bomb after saying you would

Spoiler
Rig it to explode, so Mr. Burke doesn't take to kindly to this

Which set came after you?

If they wore talon armour you must have been good
but if they wore dusters you must have been evil

Strange It might just be my game then. I've never been bothered by mercs unless i've strayed off the neutral path.

I always liked the encounter's... I love The Regulator Duster and the TC CA isn't bad either; especially if you get attacked early game... In New Vegas they have decent guns to sell and reasonably easy xp if you travel with Boone and ED-E like me. I like the change of pace too; randomly running up a highway can get a bit dull, bullets suddenly whizzing past your head is a great pace changer.

Billybob they were talon, so yeah I must of been good then, I was only level 3-4 though so was surprised to see them considering I've done no quests yet. I'm neutral now though, heading towards the dark path of evilness.

Good points! I have never really thought about it. I wonder if there is a mod that fixes these things. I must go have a look...

OP- I never really minded the bounty hunter attacks. The battles are quite easy if you have a companion with you, not so if you are the lone wanderer with poor equipment. It is very handy to loot the bodies for their armor. Duster looks cool and Talon has nice DR.

In my first encounter with Talon Co., I tried to talk to them but the unit leader explains that they have an contract and then the shooting starts. In subsequent encounters, you can loot a contract off one of the bodies.

They get might annoying at times, but they are good for repairing combat armor early in the game.

I like the Talon company because they drop like 40 MF cells and always carry a combat shotgun.

When I first ecountered Talon Company Mercs they annoyed the hell out of me because they would always show up just after I've killed a bunch of things and catch me with low health and few Stimpacks. After finding out that once they ambush you, you can leave them and they'll stay there and won't ambush you anywhere else until you kill them it made things easier.

Oh that's good to know! I usually just kill them for their armor, so I can fix up my Rilley's Ranger Battle Armor LOL

Well I like it except when I get like 5 of them at once, normally there is only 3 so easy kills. Yet 5 is a problem do to one or two will throw grenades at me and I can't shoot them in vats do to the others are in the way and coming at me. That’s why I always carry 5 grenades of my own now. Once for each of them... :-)

Mods like FWE/MMM does change them quite a bit.
They're a bit more then annoying nuisances when they're using grenades and plasma miniguns.
I think I'm gonna have to try that trick and "park" their ambush somewhere I don't travel so often.

I don't mind these encounters too much. I love it when I see the Talon Compamy Mercs get attacked by radscorpions and Deathclaws. This makes the mop up operation easy. My favorite scenerio is when I see them marching in single fine and I can use my sniper rifle on them. I start with the one in the back and move forward until they are all dead without knowing what hit them.

The Hunters bother me a little because I never know when they will go hostile.
