I know the issue's been brought up, but i have not seen a clear and reliable answer. I had the D2D version for years and played with no issues. I've been playing on my current Windows 7 laptop for over a year with no issues. Today i bought the PC-DVD GotY version from WalMart, uninstalled my D2D version, installed the DVD version, and can play with no issues. However, i cannot install the DLC from Disc 2. By all appearance the Disc 2 is actually blank. In My Computer the disc properties only shows blank (0/0 Mbs) regardless of how long i allow it to read. I tried reading the disk in safe mode as suggested. If i try opening the disc(folder) manually it ejects the disc and says "please insert a disk". I only bought the GotY so i could play the DLC, but the DLC is the only thing i cannot access, so if anyone has an actual answer i'd appreciate it. I just sent an e-mail to Bethesda on the same issue, but hopefully someone here already has the answer.

Did you try booting the PC into safe mode and installing? It is the quickest way to install the second disc, its a known issue. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1052709-game-of-the-year-edition/

Yes, i tried that and it did not help. Still showed the disc as blank.

Is your DVD drive a burner? There's some commercial code used for the disk-checking, SecureROM, I'm almost certain is what I remember it being, and it doesn't like DVD drives with write capability. I had to install across my LAN from an old Sony DVD Reader drive. If you have two DVD drives, try the second one.

Gorath, thank you. I saw your comment on the matter in the other thread and tried the disc on my nephew's computer. It looks like the LAN trick will work for me as well. Thanks again.

There are several work-arounds, including borrowing a friend's external DVD drive. I did try replacing the SecureROM disk checker with another from Sony, and that didn't work. I never got any acknowledgment from Bethesda's support to an eMail about the matter, and I had two different PCs with Plextor burners that wouldn't work with the disk to perform the install.

Finally, I remembered my old AMD XP 3000 Barton PC, with its Sony DVD reader, that I just use when I want to print a lot of text with my monochrome LaserJet. It worked fine for me, and after the install, then Windows had no trouble accessing the disks any more, even with the burners.
