I bought the game on steam yesterday, and when I tried to play it this morning, it all went well. Until I got to the playpen scene. As soon as your dad closes the door after saying he got to leave for a minute, it freezes (Right after the cutscenes over, so you can see your health, etc). Sometimes it even does that before the door closes and the cutscene ends. I got absolutely no mods.

Try reinstalling.

Same issues. Same edition. Steam. I've tried forcing the game to run on just 2 cores, and then tried 1...neither worked (I found these fixes online and seem to have worked in the past).

There are quite a few other players with this goty steam dl.

Extremely easy to do, and worked like a charm. I killed the Radroach with no freezes, and now starting on my journey to beat the snot out of some Tunnel Rats.

I have tried all 3 "fixes" that seem to have worked for others and IT STILL CRASHES.

I've:

1) changed the code to run on 2 cores http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZvZrbn3NW8
2) added the .dll file http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c47UXdfWA7s
3) ran the game in window mode

ive tried them separately and all at once and nothing works. ive really been looking forward to this game and now im just sad. if anyone comes up with any other fixes please post them here.

Run windows update and get the latest .net patches. I could not use the game until I did this, even after the CPU core fix.
