Thoughts On Lonesome Road

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 6:32 am

Lonesome Road definitely had the best environment out of all 3, Old World Blues had the best NPC interactions, humor, (I also enjoyed X-13 and X-8 very much), and Dead Money had the best story.

While Lonesome Road had a very intense ending with the missile launch, nothing will beat Dead Money, when your collar begins to beep faster and faster and faster, while you are trying to lug out a bunch of gold.

The only thing I liked about Honest Hearts was Joshua Graham. The rest svcked. I guess it's not a coincidence that the only DLC not designed by Chris Avellone is the one that I highly disliked.

I have Lonesome Road at the top because I've been DIEING to find out who and what Ulysses' aka the sixth or something courier is, been something I've wanted to know since I started Fallout in like summer 2011 (Not fairly long, but I've kept Fallout as my favorite game since)

Of course, when time cam I tried to not kill but talk over Ulysses'.

Old World Blues MIGHT not be as bad as the other one.. which I keep forgeting's name... but yeah.

OWB has a large bizarre factor to it that often turns people off of it.

I like the dlc. But they were obsessed with the idea you gave a s**t about Ullysses. I most definately don't.

Ulysses is a pompous a**hat who goes on and on and on.

I would never ever let anyone kill ED_E! ED-E is adorable in LR and cute in the main game.

They were so obsessed with the idea you would like Ullysses they f**ked up the ending.
That bulls**t about draping the flag over Ullysses.
No way in hell. Impale him with the flagpole then desicrate the corpse after pounding it to a pulp, yes.
Draqe flags? Hell no! Strangle him him with it then hang his stinking corpse for all to see with a declaration of his cretinousnes and crimes, yes.
There is no option at the end for those who hate him.

Ullysses is'nt special or clever! He is a b**tard who ruins countless lives in his vendetta against you for something you did'nt know you were doing!
And even if you did, so what! If you're character was evil they would'nt give a s**t anyway!
He is a legion b**tard anyway!
He is scum to start with.

They sacrificed giving a history to the awesome divide to blather on about that moron.
Seriously, there is a awesome and interesting valley full of nukes!
A dead ghoul general at the start.
They should have focused on the nearly pristine and awesome nuke silos and buildings.
The divide should have a story adn it should be about the awesome valley full of nukes!
Not Ullysses!

This is a joke right?

I sacrificed E-DE and met the orginal courier six, under torn skies and the old world flag, in front of the old world giants and we talked.
Now the Divide has two guardians, while the rest of the world was baptised in a second nuclear fire.

Am I the only one that didn't give a damn about Lonesome Road ED-E?
His whole story just didn't connect with me, both because it came at the last minute (last DLC) next to Ulysses' (guess which is most hyped up) AND because I knew the truth: that Narravo and Whitley were both history. TBH he even annoyed me. I missed my ED-E; the adorable quiet type that just floats around and blows crap up. Felt weird trying to connect emotions with a robot, perhaps not so much because he was a robot even, but because he was so child-like.

At any rate, on topic, Lonesome Road was, as it claims "an ending to things." I think it may have taken time to accept, because perhaps people accepted more ANSWERS and less speculation from an ending, but looking back at it, I wouldn't've had it any other way. It would defeat the purpose of the message if Ulysses had an opinion like "this nation should survive" or "the player was supposed to support this faction because they were morally right" or whatever.

One of the things I like about Ulysess is BECAUSE he patronizes the NCR, Legion, and House, and yet all his harsh quips are very true.

The Legion is a time bomb of infighting waiting to happen until it, like the Ourobourus, consumes itself.
The NCR is a corrupt nation of greedy children who don't take the time to learn from history.
Mr. House is all about lights and restoration of the past as opposed to a unique new future.

And yet they also made him human, which is also refreshing. He can see faults in all of the above, but the Legion gains his sympathy. He preaches about the need to bomb the Long 15, but can't bring himself to cut off the Bull as well.

Just very well-written imo. Very natural and believable.
