so i have some questions about how companions work in the current state of the game.

I play a guns build, rifle for range and handguns for close quarters.



so my stats for starters are

S:6
P:6
E:5
C:4
I:8
A:5
L:7

so far i don't have a large understanding on how compaions work. since i use rifles to pick off or start fights at range, and use handguns when enemies close in
Would E-dE and Boone be my best combo for companions? or would a different combo work better?

i know boone is anti legion so that causes a problem for me if he attacks them on sight.
I am neutral with legion and plan on staying so untill i have to kill off the legion at some point.

and if i get to the point where i have to take out legion members and get assassans sent after me,
what is the easiest way to deal with legion assassins? before i had huge trouble with them, it seemed no matter what type of ammo or weapon i used, they would take forever to kill and they would come after me very frequently

I have planned on staying with good rep for NCR thus far.

Is there a way to make my companions not attack anything in sight thats a red mark on my compass?
is there a way to stop boone from instigating fights with legion?

There isn't a way to stop Boone from killing the Legion members, he tells you this several times. He does this whenever you go near Legion occupied areas. Its not like he didn't warn you. For other companions, open the companion wheel and set them to passive. This should stop them attacking people. However they will fight back if attacked or if you fire on enemies.

Try and complete ED-E's quest, and choose to help the Followers of Apocalypse. This will increase the amount of Damage ED-E will do. As for the Legion assassins, it depends on what weapons and armour you have. I find Dinner Bell works very well. Try to get better armour with DT that negates the damage of Brush Guns and 12mm SMGs, which are the ranged weapons they use the most.

No way of making Boone stop his legion killing spree.
For the assasins i would say turbo or stealthboys if you dont wanto kill em.If you do want to kill em and are a good shot then get a huntig rifle or this machine or a brush gun and AP ammo or a riot shotgun if youre a bad shot and get some super stimpacks + deathclaw omelets + trail mixes + caravan meals especially if youre going melle or unarmed; and youre ready.
