Honestly, I hate the whole "you don't play on ULTRA HARD MODE, so I know more than you" mentality - it's a sad excuse to try and show off about being good at a game. Well done, have a pat on the back, you are a god etc etc
Funnily enough, these folks often
don't know more about the game than anyone else, and in fact often know
less; they tend to follow a build someone else figured out that could crush pretty much anything (and there is
always such a build), without actually knowing why it does so. The guy who came up with it usually does, though, since such builds tend to require detailed anolysis of the game's mechanics to figure out. It doesn't help that in a lot of cases the ability to play on the hardest difficulty has less to do with any inherent skill and/or build strength and more to do with ruthless abuse of broken mechanics, as the latter cannot be countered by the AI and usually guarantees success.

While the Ulysses fight
is a bit too easy if you have top-end weapons and AP ammo, that's arguably better than the probable alternative, where such things would be required to even have a chance at killing him. While that level of durability has its place, this fight isn't it; the game is not calibrated to the degree of difficulty usually associated with such bosses, and running into that large a shift would
massively piss off a large percentage of the player base.
Could it have been a 'better' fight? Probably (some would say 'Definitely'), but the way it's set up any increases run the risk of making it a bit
too difficult for anyone not using heavy weapons, so it's best left alone.
