Melee Weapons: Yea or Nay?

Nay.

I'd use Guns>Unarmed>Explosives before melee weapons.

Melee can rock and be fun both. But I sorta dislike the melee "feel" in the game so I don't use it very often...plus I prefer ranged playstyles in almost any game so it's habit. But I especially find it fun to use low level melee weapons early in the game, like the baseball bat. It's just bashing fun. Prefer the things like bats, knuckles vs. power fists (not that power fists aren't fun).

I haven't done a Melee playthrough yet, but was thinking that'll be the thing for my next one. I really enjoyed playing unarmed, Love and Hate are a favorite. Unarmed really works well in DM, but like others said I didn't like that a lot of the melee/unarmed perks are tied together making it hard to pick those depending on your style.

I did find unarmed to be a very satisfying/fun style of play, nothing like walking up to a bighorner after a rough day at work and punching it right in its ugly face. Interesting info here, looking forward to my melee playthrough.

I love my guns, but there is definitely satisfaction to be had in hitting a raider with a Bumper Sword or using a Chainsaw to cut my way through some Legion a-holes.

In OWB, I use the Proton Axe about 90% of the time. Wouldn't be able to make it through that place without it.

Yea to melee.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about the chainsaw. That one is lots and lots of fun. :D

I love melee weapons when im fooling around but when im doing a mission and its not in a vualt or close range it be a gun I use but I do love melee weapons there so fun but sniper are good as well just because of the head shots or the sneak attacks.

Melee and Unarmed are both quite viable, and so are explosives. I had an unarmed build going with Rad Child and Deadly Radiation Poisoning, man I was invincible just punching people!

And it isn't just hacking and slashing. For example, facing powerfull mele fighters I'll use the mauler first, once they are in the floor, Chopp Chopp! Love the fire axe!

Never done a pure melee or unarmed character but I always keep a lead pipe or spiked knuckles for fly swatting lower level critters. For pure dps I would say that a War Club with the right perks and a Weapon Binding Kit and Rushing Water will take down prety much anything short of Deathclaw without you taking a scratch. Even the Deathclaw you'd probably have a fifty fity chance against.
