Where to go now?

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 3:47 am

Hey all, I'm new to New Vegas and had a quick question. I just finished the Showdown in Boulder City mission, in which I killed the Great Khans. I don't want to head to Vegas to find Benny just yet, what side quests could I do? Where should I head to mosey around for a little bit. I don't want to get into anything to involved just shoot some [censored] and get some XP.

There are a bunch of quests around the Vegas Strip. Plus you still have Freeside, Westside, and Northside to do yet. The quests for the sharecroppers.. have you done some of the Companion quests? Depending on level, you could always start DLC's or go to the Rock Quarry full of Deathclaws. There are so much to do yet lol.

Note: I dont' think Northside is specifically Northside.. just North of Vegas.

Oh and which fraction are you aiming for? NCR compound has a lot of quests too. Or you could just go around shooting legion outposts like I did one playthrough

As of now I've been trying to get in the NCR's good graces. The powder gangers and legion hate me. I have been through Primm, NIpton, and Novac. Just got to Boulder City and completed the Showdown quest. Where is NCR compound? Currently, I have ED-E and Boone as companions. I am loving this game! Regretting not playing it sooner. Also I don't have any of the DLC yet.

Ah. I bought the combine package. It is a load of fun.

The NCR facility is right below Vegas strip. The airport. You will see a big solid wall with towers surrounding it.. that is it. Its entrance is west. If you follow the road abit.. you will meet Veronica, just west of Boulder City at the 188 Trader Camp or whatever. Just run around Vegas and have some fun 8) Did you already do Camp Forlorn Hope? East of Nipton? I guess it is hard to say what to do since I don't know what you have done. But I will say you have lots left. Do not fret

No I didn't do Camp Forlorn Hope, I will be heading there first, followed by the NCR facility. I did the REPconn test site facility mission. That was fun! I had started to do the Crazy, Crazy, Crazy mission where I'm supposed to take out Tabitha, but I got destroyed by some super mutant brutes, and I hadn't saved in nearly an hour! I was pissed! Thanks for your answers though I'm sure I'll be back soon with more questions.

You could go to Freeside. And do quests there. They might take you to different parts of the wasteland too. Best thing you can do now is explore on your own. The quests will come naturally.

Oh and that is the most valuable lesson there.. SAVE A LOT... and make multiple saves... I screwed over my 130 hour playthrough because I did a few quests out of order and couldn't complete it like I wanted too. I feel like I need to explain but I think this forum is suppose to be free of spoilers.. so I am trying to avoid that. Especailly since it ruins the game for some people

well i followed the main quest path from the start and ended up meeting veronica and having her as a companion. So I didn't screw up her quest! yay! I did end up screwing up Raul's questline. Anyway, it wouldn't be fallout if you don't screw up some quests here and there.

Yeah, I think that's my fear is getting ahead of myself and maybe entering a place that I'm not ready to be in yet. I don't wanna mess anything up. So i've been trying to do mostly small tedious quests that don't get too involved. And good looking out Preie I too should avoid spoilers. Hard to imagine anyone is as new to this as me but I'm sure there are some out there.

Make sure you make a "different" save before entering DLC (when/if you get it) because you might not be ready for that. Mostly everything in the main game should be playable at any level. And anything that isn't will kill you before you can enter it. (quarry filled with DCs for example)

Dead is Dead. If you die in-game you would have to start over. Only one life and such. Makes it tough and scared to explore 8)

it really just slows you down. Makes you play with care instead of reckless endangerment.
As for the Boomers, hug the left wall. They will hit the rock wall to your left or they will land behind you. And for cinematic purposes use Turbo!

Dudes, I couldn't imagine playing that way. You'd have to have some mean determination and strategy.

Haha, if it isn't for you, than that playstyle isn't for you. Like some don't like Roleplaying.. but I would get bored easily if I didn't
