Deel - A Rusty Argonian's Tale

Authors Note: This is my first attempt at Roleplaying in Skyrim. It's not as easy as it was in Oblivion, as I knew more about the game. However, this will work in my favour towards Skyrim. As Deel learns more about the land, so will I. We will both, hopefully, be surprised in our discoveries.

Character Biography

Name: Deel
Race: Argonian
Birth Place: Cyrodiil
Age: 21 Years

Before Skyrim

Deel's 21st birthday went as all his other birthday's had gone before; he sat alone, by a make-shift camp on a random river looking for his next meal which swam in the murky depths. Deel's past life was mildly simple, or so I have been told, and consisted of him catching fish, which he excelled at due to his natural ability, and then eating it. Occasionally, he'd catch enough to sell at the local markets and then he'd use the money to buy food that wasn't covered in scales. Although he was poor, and his life was basic, Deel was content. He did not know a life of wealth, he could not dream a life of fame because he had never imagined it possible, let alone what those lives might entail. And so, from the age of 13 till the age of 21 he stayed a lone fisherman in the wilderness.

"Take this," the shop keeper said to Deel, handing him 10 gold coins. Deel stared at the coins which were laying in his palm. He was shocked. He had only been expecting a mere 4 coins for his catch however Deel wasn't stupid enough to question the amount he had recieved, and pocketed it. Saying his thanks, he left the building and walked through the streets of the Imperial City. The City was still recovering from the attack by the Thalmor, but this did not bother Deel. He was content, and that was all that mattered.

'10 gold coins!' Deel thought to himself, 'I do not know what to spend my great riches on' Deel chuckled to himself and continued walking on through the market district. He paid no attention to the crowds of people gossiping, nor to the soldiers marching up and down the streets. All he cared about was how he would spend this amount of money. He finally decided that he'd spend a night at an Inn. He only decided this after he found himself ending up at a City Tavern after aimlessly wandering the streets for an hour. Deel entered, and was greeted with a musky smell of ale and smoke. People were everywhere, most wearing expensive clothing whilst others wore cloaks covering their faces. Deel took no notice, and walked up to the counter to the Barmaid who was serving a couple of Imperial's drinks. After a minute of being ignored, Deel coughed into his fist which attracted the attention of the Barmaid.

"What can I get for you to--" started the Barmaid. She looked at Deel, and realised he was a commoner and an Argonian, "We don't serve your kind here, lizard,"
Deel ignored the insult, "I have this much gold, can I spend a night here under your roof," he asked, in the best upper class accent he could achieve. The barsmaid hid a grin, and looked at the measly offering. She was about to say no until she had a thought.

"Sure lizard, we've got a room just upstairs. I'm sure you can find your own way," said the barsmaid, who took the gold out of Deel's hand and then proceeded to walk over to a group of men sitting in the corner. If Deel had been paying more attention, and if he wasn't so ignorant to the world he would have noticed the barmaid pointing him out to the group of Imperials sitting in the darkest corner of the Inn.

The rest of the night Deel cannot clearly remember. He remembers parts of the events that occurred after he went to sleep. He remembers the door to his room being unlocked with a key, and then pushed open. He remembers waking up panicking, as Imperials dragged him out of bed, beat him, stripped him down and robbed him blind. He remembers being chucked out of the Inn and then dumped in the sewers. He remembers their abuse as he lay there waiting for the pain to stop. He also remembers the darkness that followed.

Deel regained consciousness in the back of a travellers Wagon. His speech was slurred, and his head pounding. The woman in the back of the cart with him told him to lay still.
"You've been out for a number of days. Me and my husband found you on the banks of the lake. We couldn't leave you, so we brought you along with us,"
That was all Deel remembers from the Woman. Shortly after, their small wagon containing the woman, Deel, her husband and the one horse pulling the cart was attacked by Bandits. Deel lay unconsciousness from his previous wounds, and the Bandits left him for dead. It took him a further day for him to regain consciousness, and with the help of Histskin he was almost back to full health. The Cart, and its occupaints were no where to be seen. Deel was lost in the snowy wilderness. In the distance, he could see Bruma, a small snowy town. He remembers the tavern there and how warm it was, and all the fish he could find.

His intentions were clear. His outcome was not. Why the Divines chose Ulfric to be walking along this path the same day as Deel, we'll never know. Why the Divines chose the ambush by the Imperial Soldiers to occur just as Deel passed Ulfric, we will also never no. Deel, an innocent traveller, was caputured along with Ulfric, his bodyguards and a horse thief who was some way behind Deel. Deel was not awake for the fight between Ulfric's bodyguards and the Imperial Legion, as he was quickly knocked out by a blow from behind, by one of the Imperial's scouts. This was not his week, and it was not to be his year.

Deel woke up to the bump in the road, which shook the entire cart. He looked up, opening his eyes. Mountains, snow and the gleaming sun greeted him. And also a smiling blonde Nord, also in the back of the cart with him.

"You're finally awake I see," said the Nord in Blue, "Welcome to Skyrim!"

Very nicely written. I'd be interested to know more of Deel's travels. Keep up the good work :)
