Aedra!

You can only have a true stasis in the absence of time. Time is the only thing that allows the universe to change at all.
One has to keep in my that the Time Dragon came about after the interplay of Anu and Padomay. The genesis of the original spirits is chaotic, it is only after Akatosh forms that the spirits begin to realize they have a past and future. Of course, Akatosh, like all the primal spirits, was born of Anu and Padomay but betakes more of the former because of times uniformity. Though, like you pointed out, time begets change, but this change is in accordance with order.

So better yet, the only difference is our perception in our flawed and feeble mortal minds.

On these notes, I think that people place too much emphasis on making a Aedra/Daedra dichotomy. Such as "Aedra are Anu aligned and Daedra are Padomay aligned!" or "They have both in them!" The only real difference between them is the role they played in creation. To go further, the Daedra are whole, while the Aedra are divided into pieces (different aspects worshiped in different pantheons; this could be because all of the versions of a god existed in the Dawn Era where time was nonlinear however, thus making all possible religious stories and myths true). If you wanted to lump the Magna-Ge into the Aedra/Daedra dichotomy, they'd probably be more like Daedra; not because of being aligned with Padomay (which is irrelevant anyways), but because they did not participate in the creation in Mundus. The only difference between the Magna-Ge and the Daedra is that the Daedra mess with Mundus for various reasons (to become Aedra in the next kalpa? Nah), while the Magna-Ge do not.

Makes me wonder how sensitive certain spirits are to being called certain things.

If I approached Akatosh and said, "Greetings, Lord Daedroth!" what are the odds that he'd:
  • step on me?
  • respond, "it's Aedroth!!!!"?
  • laugh himself into a [dangerously fiery] coughing fit?
  • look shifty and pretend not to have heard?

He'd do all these and more, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygI-2F8ApUM

Aka's more about stasis then change. He allows mortals to perceive the world properly and keep track of things. Since Lorkhan and he are twin, and they are one and the same, except when they remember they aren't, it's safe to say that Aka has a bit of Padhome in him as well.

All things die/change/transform in time, time itself included. Aka gives birth to himself again and again. Eats his tail, the poor guy. He decays, too, as much as that is possible in a world where time is cyclical. Maybe Aka just wants to become linear (to himself).
