Mods to download with Oblivion..

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 7:55 am

I feel like playing Oblivion after much Morrowind and a little Skyrim.

Vanilla Oblivion is okay, but what kind of mods should I get if I hate the leveled enemies? And any graphics mods?

GENERIC:
If you want the most help possible it helps to give as much information, and uniqueness as possible.

Here's my generic written thing for these topics. if you want something specific give more details. I ask some questions in the below text as a small guide line. You can answer them if you wish:

List of topics exactly like yours generic pleadings for "Any mods?" that have already been answered:

Read the AZERessential topics to get the basic "get wryebash, OBMM, OBSE, start slow" basic advice for starters recommendations

If you want any further help I suggest you tell us about yourself; what you like and what you're looking for... Here's some questions to get you started:

Have you played Oblivion already?
What sort of things interest you?
What type of Character do you usually play? (good/evil, theif/mage, roleplayer/random-no-story-hack-and-slasher?)
Are there specific types of mods you think would interest you? (Quests, graphic mods, gameplay mods, overhauls, etc.)
When did you leave?
What did you not like about Oblivion? What did Oblivion not have or need more of?
Male or female character?

For the occasional "What are your must haves?"
Mostly quest mods: http://kno.li/i

My favorite quests are:
Integration (my most favorite)
Malevolent, Runied tail, Tears of the fiend
Windfall
The Blackwood company
Dremora Companion
Servant of the Dawn
Imperial Legion Faction

Gameplay mods:

Hear No Evil
Vector
Crime Has Witnesses
Audacious Magery
Conduit magic
Custom spell Icons
Training cattle
Keychain
Refscope(good for troubleshooting)
Vows and Covenants
Pluke's roleplaying persuasion
LAME (Needed for Integration. no longer needed)
RBP (Needed for Integration. No longer needed )

I'm mostly a quest mod player and I recently posted a big rundown for most of them that I've played here and here.

(Some of these are probably outdated by now)
http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?act=findpost&pid=15598757
SkyRanger-1's
Pseron Wyrd's top 10 (Don't really want a lot top 10's or simple lists but I'm desperate for cop/pastes at the moment)
Tommy H's

I don't know much about graphics mods, I've most just been refering people to post #2 http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1352982-mods

For non-leveled enemies check the options http://www.gamesas.com/topic/820948-scaling-overhaul-comparison/. There's a new one called OWCND(?) Which is Oblivion warcry new dimensions I believe. Also there may be some non overhaul mods that change the scaling, but I'm not familiar with them.

I've been looking around google for about 15 minutes, and I've found Francescos leveld Creatures and Items mod.

Do you know anything about that? It seems like it's what I'm looking for. I've also found Qarls texture pack III, and natural environments.

If you want to remove the most annoying parts of level-scaling, then Frans is good for that, it also adds a lot of extra enemies and loot.If you want the difficulty of enemies to be dependent on where they are and in general make the game tougher then Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul does that.OOO completely revamps the level-scaling and makes it kind of like a classic RPG, where if you walk into the wrong place at the wrong time you could get owned, but you can also find enemies that are a lot weaker than you.It doesn't remove level-scaling though, so the game isn't completely linear, it just makes it less drastic.

If you are interested in Francescos mod, you could take a look at FCOM, which is an integration of several big famous mods. FCOM means Francescos + warCry + OOO + MMM, and all of them are brilliant mods.
By the way, Shikishima is somebody in FCOM team.
However, FCOM is not recommended to newcomers because it is sort of complex.

Hmm, surprised no one has mentioned TIE. If you like vanilla but just want to get rid of the level-scaling of the enemies, TIE might be the way to go.

It can be very tough on a new character though, as you can run into some really tough enemies right from the get-go. But then OOO is brutal on new characters too. FCOM is something else. Personally, I'd start with OOO before trying FCOM, and see if you want something more challenging (to both your character and your fps) before jumping full into FCOM. But that's my opinion. Frans is very good. I'd read the overhaul comparison that Shikishima linked too and see what appeals most to you and go for it.
