I have put quite a few hours into my character and the original game before DLC's. I bought Broken Steel when it first came out but that was the only one at that point. I have played just over 800 hours on this character. Every possible quest completed, and a lot of time collecting things and hoarding back in Megaton. My game has played relatively well with only a few freeze ups here and there. I stopped doing any quests just before going out to Adams AFB so i could continue doing my hoarding and collecting and trying to sell a lot of my accumulated guns and armor to vendors so I would have lots o' caps.
Once I decided to continue Broken Steel and head out to Adams AFB, everything was working fine. Lots of redundant back-up saves (just in case). Once I would fill up my inventory with all I could carry, I would back-off from fighting and head back to my house/merchants to unload my acquired gear. I probably made 6 or 7 trips back to my house no problem going through the Capitol Building shortcut. Then the game froze on me trying to get through that danged door from the Presidential Metro into the Capitol Building. Tried reloading. Tried coming at it from out in the Seward Square and walking over to the door. Same result... freeze up. Then I resorted to lugging all my gear all the way back through the Presidential Metro ending up at White House Plaza. Did this several times also.
Then it started "locking me out" trying to get through the door in the M.A.R.Go.T computer room. So then I stashed all my found gear and weapons in the "Re-supply crate" at the entrance hoping I would be able to get back here someday and retrieve all this stuff I collected. I only took the essential stuff -one of a kind weapons and such. After I finished the quest Who Dares Wins, I have not been able to get back to Adams AFB. It either freezes at the M.A.R.Go.T door or the one just before that.
Here's the obvious question.....am I out of luck?.....Man there's a lot of stuff stashed out there. Probably 1200 or 1300 lbs of goodies that I would like to hoard or sell. I have read in quite a few threads about the game becoming much more glitchy when you hoard at your home or interact/move almost everything you come across in the wastes.
Second thing... I have since picked up the GOTY edition as it was only $10, and I thought I would try it to see how glitchy it was going to be. From reading on here it looks like it's going to be pretty bad with using the saves I already have with the original game plus the DLC Broken Steel. What do you think????
If I have to start over again, I may do it on my PC this time to save the trouble with the PS3 glitches. Just hard to give up that many playing hours on my character. Plus the 500,000 caps I have and roughly 7000 lbs of armour in my fridge, along with everything else I have hoarded....
900 empty whiskey bottles, 800 coffee mugs, 850 pre-war money, 400 bottles of beer, 300 bottles of scotch, etc...etc...
I have started my game over a couple of times already, but I always find myself coming back to my original playthrough.
Thoughts?
