I have played fallout and the elder scrolls games on xbox for years than i decided to get oblivon and fallout3 goty so oblivion works fine mods and all but fallout works fine till character creation...i get a black screen and cant see what im doing so thank god i remembered where the done bottonwas so i click it(couldnt see it) and i get my pipboy it has a black screen too-_- PLEASE HELP

Actually, you probably have the numbers mixed up.


You must have a DEDICATED graphics card, at least as powerfull as the Radeon X800 Pro, and the missing 256 MBs of RAM is almost certainly being used by an onboard chipset video chip, such as an HD 3200. That's not good enough, and the CPU is too slow as well.

OK, even if you had some sort of Zero MB HD 2400M, that's not even as good as the newer HD 3200 chipset video chip.

but the game runs fine its just the pip boy and terminal screens and stuff and in other words your saying im [censored] and wasted 30 bucks that i cant get back

it seems to just be a missing textures problem from what im seeing on other website

and it was 4250 i was typing fast

oh the menu stuff worked once but i turned off the game to reinstall race mods because i thought it was fixed but i was wrong

As small a figure as the little notebook cost, you had to know there was nothing special about it. Desktops are still the gaming standard, both because the keyboards and mice are so much better, and they are effectively so much more economical to own, upgrade, fix up, etc and most of that easy enough to handle by yourself. Laptops, even WITH good CPUs and GPUs, are simply not supported.

this is a standard gaming laptop i also have a mouse but people say this is just one of the many missing textures and or glitches with steams fo3 goty

And if you know where to get the texture or how to fix this please just say or tell me what it will take to get my money back from steam

Compare Oblivion to FO-3. They are three years and almost all of Dx9 apart. It doesn't count. If it was a "gaming laptop", it wouldn't have a stupid, puny, almost worthless chipset video chip instead of the real thing. Some sly salesman lied to you and took you for a svcker, hook line and sinker.


Like I already said. Ask Bethesda, or read your game's Readme file. No support for tinker toys.

And I hate to say it ... but windows 7 is still very new , its primary function is to multi task , not run video games wich are selfish with the cpu and such.

Windows XP and a singlecore is by far still superior to running any such game ... wich this IS!!!

Windows 7 isn't any kind of bugaboo. It works. Vista didn't, until two service packs were released. Nevertheless, when workarounds to avoid XP are available, allowing Win2000 to run games instead, I like it best of all.

Im not diminishing you ability to work with a pc ... but for the general user ... windows 7 is supose to be user friendly. But in this case it creates a whole slue of illiterate whiney give it to me now sort of types. Hence windows 7 is inferior to xp ... but in this jungle ... each to his own

my advice would be to run this game off of XP

Oh my bad ... forgot to tell you ... laptops cant run this game .... its because it requires a video card separate from an on board. Doesnt matter how much process or ram you have.

Go get an old pentium4 3.2 processor 2+gigs of ram and a 256 pci video. A 512 video even better and more ram. But this senario and XP operateing system runs this game beutifully. They are easy to buy in comp shops , or build your own through buying old parts. Stop being an Idiot that has to have it all now (windows 7 user)
