Fallout New Vegas, canon endings, and the future of Fallout

Yeah Legion should not be tossed away so quickly.
BOS and Enclave are factions that should be done away with by now.
But Legion has just had one single game, where they got shafted.
So Legion needs at least one more game before they fall apart or become something new.
Preferrably Legion with Lanius in charge after the defeat at Hoover Dam.
I think that could be interesting.

I just don't like the Legion. Only faction I REALLY don't care for at all- in the next game if there are remnants I'm ok with that, but I don't want half the story or more then an hour (game) time spent on Legion. That's ok that some people (Meghan) seem to have an obsession with this Faction- I just see them as a weak link, as, I'm 80% sure, The cannon ending is not the Legion winning, and probably House or NCR will be the Cannon ending, but I'm leaning towards House.

And yes, I hope the BoS will be done with by the next game

I think it'd be kind of cool to leave the west as it is IF Bethesda isn't even considering letting Obsidian do more games, but if they are planning on having more games in the west then I would want the House ending to be canon. I wouldn't want Bethesda to attempt the Core Region unless they really think it through.

So you'd never want Beth touching the West? I can live with that.

I don't think they will. The whole reason they contracted Obsidian was because Bethesda wanted a game that continued the West's storyline, and Obsidian had people who were very familiar with that story. I'd wager that if Bethesda wants to explore the West again in the future they'll contract Obsidian.

Would not mind seeing Bethesda's team & Obsidian's team working as one on this actually.

On topic.

I do not think we are going back to the Mojave any time soon in the future, but hopefully the next one gives some information on what is going on.

I'd love to actually have a canon ending to be confirmed in the next game, but cmon you know there's like a 90% chance Beth won't touch the west coast at all. Plus the fact that I'd imagine the next game will either be focused around the east coast (DC and the Commonwealth) or the Midwest region, then there's really no reason for them to mention what happened in NV.

I'd like a very vague canon ending.

I think House would be best because under him the Mojave can be whatever you decide.

All you will hear about is House and his Leftenant, probably described as just a courier, ruling the Mojave and that the Courier did a fair bit of wandering before taking over with House.

I hope Bethesda either takes a recommendation from Obsidian (whatever ending they choose definantly won't be the ultra good-world peace ending) or hire them to write the ending.

I would love to see the House ending, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bethesda says "The BoS actually took over the Mojave, troll'd."

Or they could have a big announcement on a secret ending like:

'We felt it was unfair to have the true ending of Fallout: New Vegas available in game so we decided to just announce it with Fallout 4. The real ending is Elder Lyons discovered the Vault full of Gary clones, perfected cloning, then found a giant military base with enough power armor for billions of people to have one suit for each day of the week. He then marched his armies in all directions, peacefully annexing all areas of land, they gave food and water to all they met and everybody, even Caesar's Legion, surrendered to them. Fallout 4 takes a biggeer leap in time than any Fallout game before, this game takes place 3277, one thousand years after Fallout 3! Right before their ninety seventh major military defeat in New Mexico City the Enclave used their new teleportation technology to go to Australia to build their forces there to try and fight the Brotherhood of Steel. Death has risen you, the Lone Wanderer, from the dead to fight them once more. And since you were level 30 last time you automatically get to pick thirty levels of perks, yes one perk each level, and skill points as soon as you start. We decided the game is to complicated so instead of dialogue options you'll get cutscenes that you have no choice in. Also we combined Speech and Barter to make Speech, Medicine and Science to make Mediscience, took out the Survival skill, and combined all combat skills into one skill, Combat. We also decided that combat was too boring so we just scrapped it all together. It now enters a cinematic cutscene whenever you come across an enemy. Oh and there are no more options to be bad at all.'

This would make me just die.
