Understanding Lonesome Road

Will someone explain the meaning i guess of Lonesome Road. I don't understand how I destroyed the Divide if I have never been there. I don't understand why a guy that I don't even know wants me to suffer when I have done nothing wrong. There's more to my question than that, but can someone explain the Lonesome Road please?

You have an explanation in many topics on this forum, few days ago was the same as you created, I think the title was Meaning of Lonesome road, try using search option to find it. You also have an explanation on Fallout wiki. It's been repeated over and over trillion times, just search for it. :liplick:

You, the Courier, traveled to the Divide at a time before the events of Fallout: New Vegas. You traveled to the Divide a lot, and it was your foot traffic as a Courier that caused people to settle there and turn the Divide (Hopeville) into a trading town. When you traveled there the last time, you were carrying a package from back west (somewhere in NCR territory) and that package was some Old World device that caused the Nuclear Warheads under the Divide to explode, causing catastrophic damage to the area (earthquakes, radioactivity, bizarre mutations, et cetera). A man named Ulysses saw in the Divide hope and a new home, so when you delivered the package and accidently destroyed the place, Ulysses wanted to find you and show you what you have done. Ulysses' journey took him all over the Mojave area, and along the way he began to think about the Mojave's future and about the forces vying for control of Vegas. Knowing that you (the Courier) built the Divide, Ulysses wonders why you support the faction that you support in the Mojave, and he also wonders whether or not you are making a wise choice that you can back up with strong reasoning (you did, after all, carelessly and inadvertently destroy the Divide without thinking about your actions and their consequences).

So that's what the DLC, in a lot of ways, is about. The consequences of your actions; and how they touch people that you never predicted or intended them to touch.

Well, the way the Courier ties into Lonesome Road is in specific steps.

1. The Courier is responsible for a nation taking its first breath (Hopeville) because he/she attracted people to live there. No Legion, no NCR. Just good old america.
2. The NCR discovers that the Divide is a very beneficial route to get to New Vegas from California and tries to annex it.
3. The Legion figures out what the NCR is up to, and then they try to cut them off by trying to force them from the divide.
4. The Courier is instructed to deliver a package to Hopeville, which is presumably ED-E, (although no one knows for certain what the package is). He takes it there, while being followed by Ulysses.
5. Ulysses discovers Hopeville and decides that he wants to place his home there. He begins to believe in its system.
6. The package that the Courier delivered began to speak, and the underground missiles that have been dormant for over two-hundred years inside the Divide exploded.
7. The Divide is now in the current state in-which you found it.
8. Ulysses blames the Courier for destroying something that could have been a second chance for America, something that could have become his home.
9. The events of Fallout: New Vegas take place.
10. The events of Lonesome Road takes place.
11. The second battle for Hoover Dam takes place.
