A Reading from the Book of Deepscorn Ch 1 Vs 1-14

The Father returned from His house that is Padomay to view the work that the Awful Spark had wrought. And He saw many things, but did not see the Darkness for the Awful Spark was not of Him nor of the Antagonist, but of both and neither. And so He was displeased.

And the Father saw a vortex of the Awful Spark’s essence and knew that it was Arena Mundus. And He knew what must be done.

And so the Darkness entered the world for the first time, and beheld the imperfection of a mortal woman. And the Darkness made itself known to her, and a child was brought forth of both mortal and protonic essence. And the Mother gave great praise to the Darkness, but the Father was not content.

And so the Darkness entered the world for a second time, and beheld the pain of the Mother. And the Darkness made itself known to Her, and a child was brought forth. And the Mother gathered Her servants and they gave great praise to the Darkness, but the Father was not content.

And so the Darkness entered the world for a third time, and beheld the fear of the Mother. And the Darkness made itself known to her and a child was brought forth. And the Mother gathered Her servants and offered them as sacrifice to the Darkness, but the Father was not content.

And so the Darkness entered the world for a fourth time, and beheld the hatred of the Mother. And the Darkness made itself known to Her and a child was brought forth. And the Mother declared Herself before the gods, but the Father was not content.

And so the Darkness entered the world for a fifth time and beheld the black heart of the Mother. And the Darkness made itself known to Her and a child was brought forth. And the Mother took Her name, but the Father was not yet content.

And so the Darkness entered the world for the sixth and final time, and beheld the name of the Night Mother. And the Darkness made itself known to Her and a sixth child was brought forth. The Night Mother tore Her garments and slaughtered the other children before it. And the Father was content, and entered the Sixth as the Darkness.

And the infant spoke “Behold, for I have escaped the trap of the Antagonist and made the Darkness whole within Our Awful Spark. Evermore shall this child and its progeny be the extension of My will in this Arena.”

And the Night Mother made Herself prostrate before the Sixth and gave unto it the name of Deepscorn. And Deepscorn bade Her go forth and kill in the name of his Father.

And so around the Night Mother were gathered those who would be the sons and daughters of Sithis, to kill for the glory and delight of the Father. And they were called the Brotherhood of Darkness.

It came to pass that Deepscorn begat six sons. And so it was that the sixth killed his brothers and father and took the name for himself. And so it was with his sixth son, and his sixth son, and his sixth son ever onward. And so has always the sixth son of Deepscorn killed his father and brothers to take upon himself the Darkness of the true Father of us all. And so has the mother of every Deepscorn’s sixth son been charged by the Darkness to hear the prayers of the faithful. And so, by the will of Padomay’s sacred seed, shall it always be.

In the name of the Father, and of the Deepscorn, and of the Darkness beyond all Light, hail Sithis.

Nice to see that the Dark Brotherhood has its own myths.

Why wouldn't they? They are, technically, a religious secr.

The image of a possessed infant speaking with the voice of Sithis - chilling. Well done.

So, multiple Night Mothers? Contributing to an oversoul, maybe? Makes sense, I suppose. Although I would have preferred incistuous copulation with that lady in the sarcophagus.

Then who is that lady in the sarcophagus?

The last Night Mother?

Or the first?

Well during Morag Tong's quest line in Morrowind Nerevarine was to kill one Night Mother, mere mortal woman, High Elf if i recall correctly. So either Morag Tong got it wrong, quest is flawed or there are multiple Night Mothers.

But is OP's text more related to Vile's lair or what ever that one Oblivion's DLC was? Deepscorn was a place maybe? And weren't they some Sithis worshiping vampires? Not Dark Brotherhood but some similar sect? questions-questions-questions...

The Crimson Scars were the Sithis vampires. Deepscorn Hollow was simply the base of operations for one of two surviving members (The other being that dude who sells you stuff for it), presumably named in honour of Deepscorn.

Taken with http://www.imperial-library.info/content/fire-and-darkness, this has some interesting implications. It suggests that the Dark Brotherhood we know today is not a splinter of the Morag Tong, as historians had previously believed, but rather a synthesis of an older order and that faction of the Morag Tong that broke off in the early Second Era.

But why does Sithis desire blood? Perhaps every soul taken in his name strengthens him? Perhaps in order for the axis of Padomay-Sithis to ultimately overwhelm Anu-Anuiel? But to what end?

Yes, Deepscorn Hollow was the base of operations in which Greywyn Blenwyth used. He came upon it in his travels when he was but a novice. And the Crimson Scars were people in the Dark Brotherhood who join in with Greywyn, who was also a Dark Brotherhood member at the time, against the Black Hand. He turned most of his allies into vampires, and killed the ones who weren't. He formed the Crimson Scars in hopes that he could replaced the Dark Brotherhood and the Black Hand with vampires.

If every Deepscorn kills their dad, did the first Deepscorn kill Sithis?

That is...a very interesting consideration. How could one 'kill' a being like Sithis? Metaphorically?

By ripping his heart out, of course.
