I remember I got Morrowind for Christmas one year or something, or Xbox when I was just a little boy. Back in those days I used to go on GameFAQs or similar websites and read guides, walkthroughs, and forums posts all the time to really get into the game, so I knew about Fargoth's ring and his treestump stash before I even opened the Morrowind box. At first I remember being pretty bad at the game, all of my characters svcked and I did horrible. The best one I remember was Voldemort (lol) my generic Breton mage who wore any armor I could find underneath his robes in an effort to make him at least a little more survivable.
Needless to say he got discontinued after a few levels. My first real successful character was an Dunmer ranger type who wore medium armor, but he too was sullied because I used all sorts of cheats and though I progressed far enough to get to the Ashlander camp I didn't enjoy him because he was built with cheats, and ultimately I would devolve back to my trusty 'constantly restore HP' cheat whenever I got in trouble. So I put the game down for years, and I didn't pick it up again until I had literally forgotten my old cheats and could start over legitimately, which I did. I made a mage character, Dunmer this time, and he actually completed every Main Quest, plus House Telvanni and maybe the Tribunal, all without cheats (except for beating Almalexia, I fortified my heavy armor and longblade to 100 each to wear heavy ordinator armor and wield Nerevar's sword, and it still took fifty tries to beat the Queen Mother...) He was really successful though ultimately I quit playing him after defeating Almalexia in a dishonest way, there wasn't much left to do anyways. This character was interesting because I used levitate alot and really began to explore, getting over my fear of dungeons and the wilderness - one day I played hookie from school and spent the entire day wandering around the Sheogorath region. Of course I ended up never really using my magic even though he was a mage, I thought (and still do think) magic is underpowered. Instead I had a mega-enchanted ebony staff and Magister Aryon's gauntlet to summon three atronachs at once, so I wandered around with a batallion of summons, whacking stuff with my staff.
Then later on I picked up the game again on PC, and remade my old Dunmer Ranger. Same face, same name, and at least similar skills and I played him legitimately this time. Having the game on PC is quite the blast, I'm using MGSO 2.0 (big compilation) as my only mod right now, and I love it.
Morrowind is an amazing game, and I don't think another one like it will ever be made.
