Disable Music

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 1:37 am

Is there a way of actually disabling the music in the game, as opposed to just setting the volume to 0...?

Thanks!

Aye, there be. Find the line that reads bMusicEnabled=1 in your Oblivion.ini (NOT Oblivion_default.ini) under [audio]. Edit it to bMusicEnabled=0. That should do the trick.

Unfortunately anything that has to do with ini settings is not an option for me. I can change the whole shebang and nothing, I repeat NOTHING takes effect. Don′t know what′s up with that
Thank [insert deity here] for mods. At least they allow me past the invisible barriers

Then you are editing the wrong INI file. It is completely impossible for you to edit the INI and it NOT affect things.

I can′t see how that could be. I have ever only found one line that has remotely anything to do with borderRegion and I changed that. I have saved everywhere I can but nothing works. When I go back the changes still stand, but no effect has taken place. As far as my experience with the ini go, when someone mentions it I stop reading because I know it won′t work for me.

Then, as I said, you are not actually editing the Oblivion INI file. Are you editing the one in the main Oblivion folder? Because that isn't the right one.

Oho! I see your error.

The setting you changed, bEnableBorderRegion, is found under [Main]. It should be left at 1. That's how mine is set. The setting you need to change is under [General]: bBorderRegionsEnabled. That's the one to set to 0.
