Post » Thu May 03, 2012 7:24 am

just installed oblivion game of the year version, crashed about 1 second after i load it,

i even went and removed all data file mods and still nothing at all.

i have a new alienware Aurora r3 i7 processore-2600 @3.4gh 16 gigs of mem 64 bit operation system
dual nvidia geforce gt2450s
some kind of nvidia high definition audio.. not even sure what that is

my system obviusly should be fine, i play skyrim daily and enjoy it so much i wanted to try oblivion again

when i had my mods all loaded i ran a boss. did not really understand it, also ran tesedit 3.0.15

any help please would be great

Few things:

1) Your specs are all wrong. There's no such thing as a Nvidia GT2450. Nvidia HD audio is just the thing on the GPU that allows it to send audio signals itself. Also, it doesn't matter if you do have an Alienware. Alienware's stuff isn't that great to begin with. Just to put that out there early on. Also, you failed to post your OS. Your specs can be retrieved via run -> dxdiag or CPU-Z or via the System Information help screen or via the summary screen in Vista and newer.

2) Try a clean install first.

3) Use Bash for mod installation.

4) Use BOSS.

5) Make sure you know what everything does. It's important to understand the tools and the mods and how Oblivion actually works with the stuff in the Data folder.

6) Just saying you ran the programs tells us nothing. That doesn't tell us what you did. You need to be a lot more descriptive.

7) Please don't post your help requests in threads that don't have anything to do with your issue, it's rather annoying.

8) Make sure not to install anything in Program Files on the C drive.

9) DO NOT TURN OFF UAC AS A WORK AROUND! That's just asking for trouble down the road.

10) You definitely need to post your load order if you are still having problems following all of the above.

If you are still having problems after following all the above, repeat 10. It is very important to do all the above.

Edit:

I just saw that you linked this post in the same post as your other. It's the same problem. It's very annoying when someone does this, it really is. For anyone else who views this, here's the original: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1329381-load-order-help-sorry-kind-of-new/

Can this thread get merged into the other one please?

I would suggest deleting your ini file

As others have said, we will need a dxdiag and your current load order.

do not seem to understand bash or boss

installed in c:\games

seems OMM is giving me problems to :-)
even on a clean install without any MODs it still only loads for about 1 second then crashes out

are there any compatibility concerns with a newer "higher" end pc working with Oblivion?

Go through my list, you skipped right to 10. It is very important not to skip right to 10. Do not use OBMM, it's the easy way out. The easy way out is generally not the best way. You go through my list and you will more than likely have things actually working. The programs are not hard to understand, you just need to take the time to read the manuals. And, as an addendum, delete your Oblivion folder in your My Games section before you install again but after you uninstall. That will ensure that it is fully uninstalled. May not get rid of the extra stuff in App Data, but you can check that if you want.

There's nothing wrong with using OBMM. There's even a launcher for OBMM in Bash.

To OP: The immediate crash on launch suggests a missing master, I think. When you run BOSS, does it report any errors?
