Can I transfer save files from FO3 to FO3GOTY?

Hey, I recently bought a PS3 and wanted to get FO3GOTY, but I couldn't find any copies so I just bought a used FO3 (which was still hard to find for some reason).

I love the game and I'm almost finished with it, so naturally I wanna get the DLC. But I noticed they're $10 each, as opposed to FO3GOTY which is $20 on Amazon and comes with all the DLC.

My question is, if I buy the GOTY edition, can I continue the game I started on regular FO3, or would I have to start a whole new game? I don't know how DLC works because I'm new to this and have never downloaded DLC for any game.

Or, basically, can I just grab the DLC from the GOTY edition and play it on my current FO3 savegame? If I could do that, I can just give my current copy to a friend who's been wanting to see what all the fuss is about.

Is there a chance they may even lower the price of the FO3 DLC for the New Vegas GOTY launch?

PS: This game is insanely fun. I haven't played videogames since PS2 was still reasonably new so FO3 completely blew me away. I can't wait to check out New Vegas when the GOTY comes out next week.

Yes, you can load your save from FO3 onto the FO3 GOTY edition.

In rare, I mean real rare, instances, weirdness can come from this. Just load your existing character, make a new save slot with the new game, play it for a bit then save and reload it. You want to get all the new Journal Updates before you make the new save slot and that can take a few minutes. If the weirdness in character stats, quest log diss-appearing and the like does not appear in the first time you load the new save, then you are good to go.

Yes you can load a save from Fallout 3 to Fallout 3 GOTY, or vice versa.

Fallout 3 GOTY was hard for me to find. But I got lucky and found a used copy at Best Buy.

I suppose it all depends on your location. But in New Orleans , I checked everywhere ... was about to give up and order online. But thought I might try Wall-Mart. And lo and behold I find the shelves stocked with brand new PC,SP3 and Xbox GOTY fallout3. That was around christmas time though.

You did the exact same thing as me lol. Unfortunately, I got a game breaking glitch in the Pitt so I got my money back for the GOTY edition therefore losing all my stuff since you had to give them your items at the start of the DLC. Very depressing
