Black Super-Mutants

Post » Fri Nov 13, 2009 11:48 pm

Hah, that'd be funny to see - even if I'd get confused and think I was in Warhammer - a tiny mutant trying to kneecap me. As for an "elite" super mutant, nah. I can't see the idiotic Vault-87 SMs producing highly skilled and equipped SMs especially since there's no command figure like the Master to create them, equip them, etc. Given that the DC SMs seem more like raiders it wouldn't mesh as well. But then again, heh, it's "kewl".

If you read my op instead of Ausir's replies, you'd see that my suggestion was that the Black Mutants are part of the Masters army who evolved after travveling east.

I think i agree with Malcador about the Nightkin. They would seem out of place a little.

@Skillzgamer, The SMs in the Capital Wasteland are not from the Masters Army.

I'm sorry, but the title of this thread just keeps cracking me up.

Yeah, initially i thought it was going to be a racism complaint. "So black people aren't good enough to be mutants huh?" :hehe:

Doesn't mean that some of the Master's mutants can't appear in the Capital Wasteland, and maybe try to take command of the Vault 87 mutants?

Heh, well if the original SMs could have made it over, there'd be no need for Vault 87 at all. But my mistake. It'd be interesting to see how they'd interact with their dumber cousins in the CW area.

Just to straighten it all out Malcador has the right idea. Calgone, you need to take a deep breath and re-read the OP.

If they were going to do this, it'd need to be well fleshed out though, say they have a conflict with the CW SMs and given how they're not stupid - you could interact with them in some meaningful way that helps them in their conflict. Or what would more likely happen...they ally with their SM friends and become part of the Grand Mook Alliance and are just simple mini-bosses. But when the Master's army is broken, I'd have figured the BoS and locals would have tried to kill the elite infantry first, the stupider SM soldiers aren't much danger.

According to Fallout Tactics, many of the Master's Army remnants joined the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel (which is also mentioned in the official FO3 guide, so Bethesda considers it canon).

Personally i think that is what the story behind the super mutants should have been, or something close to it. I would have prefered the SM's in Fallout 3 to have been produced by the Remnants of the Masters Army. Then there would have been room for more intelligent mutants (who had travelled from the other coast), as well as having the Nightkin as an elite Super Mutant enemy: Who would be accompanied by large amounts of the mindless grunts created on the East Coast or operate in small groups for those "special" tasks.

Why should i need to take a deep breath or re-read the OP? I dont feel that anything was misunderstood on my part. You said this:
"If you read my op instead of Ausir's replies, you'd see that my suggestion was that the Black Mutants are part of the Masters army who evolved after travveling east."
In response all i did was state a fact.

Who's to say that some of the mutants weren't originally black? Being exposed to FEV turns everyone the same color. I.E. green...

I think we already have a mutant miniboss - The Bohemoth.

But not enough of them. In over 100 hours of play I've only seen 2. The main quest one and the one in that Raider town...

The idea of a mini-boss is that there arent that many of them, hence boss.

I believe there's five,
