Very Annoying Save Game Issue

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 3:48 pm

I keep getting multiple corrupted saved games such that I sometimes have to go back a few saves before one will load without locking up. If this was a uncommon occurance I wouldn't complain.....but it happens a lot!!!! To the point where the game feels like watching the movie groundhog day. Is there anything I can do to help correct this or to reduce the frequncy of this occuring. The game seems pretty interesting but its not that interesting where I want to continually redo sections of the game. I would almost view it as "un-playable" with the current rate of corrupted saves. Any help is appreciated

Make sure to manual save not just quicksave. If you have alot of saves already you should delete some.

Are you using any mods?

HD and memory corruption are possibilities as well. Are you having to re-do the same save or is a save corrupted after a set number of saves then you have to revert?

I have tried it both with mods (the j sawyer one) and without mods and it has happended with both manual saves and quicksaves. I tried to go back and reload the same save again and it still locks up. I don't have a whole bunch of saves.....I believe I have been on save # 5 or 6 this time and as high as #7 or 8. The PC is only a few months old and I haven't had any other problems with HD or memory that has come up.

Presently I am using it without a mod. Lately I have been double "protecting it" to some extent by saving after an auto save so hopefully one of the two works but this has failed me a couple times as well.

Thanks

So you use just 1 mod? If not, how many total? You're overwriting the same manual save? Try making new manual saves.
Do you have to reload the same save over and over? Or can you progress then the corruption happens and you have to load a previos save?

Just to clarify, does the game actually lockup (freeze) or do you get the inifinite loading screen?

I had used the 1 mod but have since gone back to vanilla and have had the problem with the game before the mod during it and after removing it (note: these were fresh starts from the beginning in all three cases).

I am not able to get the save to load despite trying it a few times and have to revert back to an older save (sometimes 2-3 saves back) ...hence the ground hog movie....lol

I believe I do make new manual saves (at least it increments the number on the save ie.....001, 002, 003, etc)

The game does not lockup I just get the infinite loading screen with the spinning roulette wheel and the little "text tips" at the top of the screen

Thanks again

Do you mean get any save to load then try to load the save I would like to load?

The infinite loading screen isn't an uncommon issue. Usually fixed by starting a new game then trying to load the save. I know its not really an elegant solution.

Mr Jasper.....you are a genius! I had known about the infinite loading screen problem it is just that everything I had read had said to just load up an older save .....none of them mentioned loading your desired save after that. I agree it is not elegant but it is so much more tolerable than having to redo things several times over (especially with the frequency with which it occured). Thank you for taking the time to help me out

Regards,

Brett
