yeah ive been wondering that too...dont have a safe house yet so I actually put some loot (mostly spare parts for the workbench) in a saspirilla crate next to the work and ammo benches in goodsprings. I came back maybe a day later and they were still there...but dont know if they always will be. Damn that reminds me i think i put a repeating carbine and incinerator in there as well...better go back and rescue them!

It's easy to test whether or not a container respawns. I explained it in a previous post:

Pick a location in the wasteland that has at least one container, and make sure you didn't kill any respawning NPCs near the building when you first discovered it. Go inside, find a container and put a single item inside it. Leave, go back outside, fast travel to a far away location and wait for 3 days. After that, fast travel back to the building you chose and see if the item is still in the container. If it is, then that means the container doesn't respawn and is safe to use. Containers don't have weight limits so you can store all of your stuff in a single container. Try not to use Metal Boxes though as iirc they do respawn occasionally, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

And that's it. Almost any container in the wasteland is suitable, so long as it's not near any NPCs that might steal your stuff. Personally, I use the desk in the Highway Patrol Building on the road a little south of Primm.

Off the top of my head, ammo boxes and armor cases do not respawn. So those are safe to use. If I think of any more, I'll edit this post.

Alright well, after clicking around in the GECK for a few minutes, I couldn't find a single container that was set to respawn, which would mean every container in the game (or at least the ones I checked, and I checked quite a few) would be safe to store stuff in. However, I'd still be careful, there may be something else I'm overlooking that makes containers respawn.

I have had good luck with the trash container in Goodsprings, which is beside the saloon. Also use mailboxes in my travels. So far all my belongings are still there.

concerning victor's shack & the gass station in Goodsprings i placed stuff in the ammunitions box in victors and in some random box (on the counter furthest from the door i think). then ran to primm waited 72 hours then ran back almost died of dehydration and stopped for water. when i got back my stuff was still there. does this count as a valid test?

Dead bodies are also a good place to store things (at least they were in FO3). But I've not done any checking on this to know if FONV will also work. *shrug*

I have been using the safe in the gas station in Goodsprings to store stuff.
There is a bed in the gas station you can use too.

anybody know if there is a real safe house to acquire in goodsprings or one that you obtain early in the game? I dont want to exert toooo much effort though, cause im dealing with the awful save game bug and frequent crashes that came with the PC version...ugh FML

there is an abandoned house by the big cross/memorial outside goodsprings. but i know nothing more about it

I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah.

truly a nice system you have. now i feel less than...

Apt svck

not sure if you know this. If you don't shut the game down the quick saves seem to work fine and a manual save should be good for shutting the game down and restarting it. but you cant just hit continue ya gotta "load" the manual save

Haven't played it but lurking around here I've heard school lockers and safes are good spots.

Moving this to the spoilers section.

I like to use my Hotel Room in Novac. Nice place and it is a stone throw away from a gift shop.
