Same here, but I only have one disc. Everything is on it though. But I also wish they had the decency to include a paper map and manual. Why being so cheap!? :swear:
Can we blame the publisher, Ubisoft? Please?

Lyriel - that's pretty cool that Moby Games has that section, but I dont see the black collectors edition there... Maybe it's on a different page. Still, my own presentation is thankfully different and therefore not entirely redundant....

Heck, I remember the days of Ultima II, Ultima IV, where you actually got several detailed books and an ACTUAL cloth map, not a textured paper map that you had to pre-order in order to get. Granted, expensive special edition games may help games like planescape financially justify a sequel with modern interface, but when people buy digitally, it further solidifies the message that gamers don't want to own anything, and those of us who like the manuals and companion books and other extras won't get that stuff when we buy it in a store unless we pay extra.

It's an era of gaming that was pretty awesome, and I'm glad it's being archived by multiple sources.

Indeed, yours is a beautiful edition! Now that's some thoughtfully crafted and handsome packaging. European countries, like France and Germany, certainly seemed to have received the more detailed and well designed packages imho. My own copy is the comparatively dull US edition. And while Moby Games has the largest collection of packaging art that I've seen, its still surely incomplete.

Ah, the maps! Way back, I had a friend, who was an amateur silkscreener hobbyist, transfer Morrowind's paper map to cloth. Nice idea, but it didn't come out all that good, just too much detail to create. I suppose it would be easier today with modern methods and would probably work well, though I've no clue of the cost involved.

So far, I've not purchased any game via digital distribution. I actually enjoy the hunt for a physical game copy. Driving to a store, searching shelves, choosing one, opening the package and looking over the contents while dining at a restaurant before returning home. Putting up fresh coffee and reading the manual while the game installs, allowing my curiosity and anticipation to grow. Buying a game was/is a sort of small adventure in itself for me. So that's what I would miss the most, not necessarily the physical contents, but rather the total experience. Click-Click Pay & Play, though efficient, seems a bit empty to me, its just not the experience I prefer. But digital distro. is gowing more popular year by year... So, sadly, I'm pretty sure that my preferences are doomed to extinction in the coming years.

I can understand those who choose digital distro., the convenience and huge assortment of New/Old/Rare/AAA/Indie games are wondrous, so much is available and only requires an internet connection. But I do wonder why this distro. method doesn't reflect the lower costs to the publishers. The consumer gets nothing but code, no physical package, or CD/DVD, or maps, nor manuals or books, yet, at release, it still costs as much as a retail copy! The lower costs and savings that they'd hyped as a benefit for moving to digital distro. goes into their pockets, not mine, eh? They've caught a nasty case of Hollywood greed methinks.

HECK YES! I just snagged the original Morrowind off of eBay for £4.24, including the map, manual and devoid of any pesky PC Gamer 83%s! ^_^

This. Even more I love to hunt some rare music CDs I've searched for a long time. Dat feel when I finally find a used copy from a second-hand store, out of the black, years after I've put the CD on my to-buy list! This is mostly the only way for me to get those CDs if they really are out of print and aren't sold anywhere. Not Amazon, eBay, heck, not even special web stores that even sell something I might be looking for.

I also agree that the third party is now earning more whereas players are earning less, since there's no packaging, disc and any extra. I don't actually like that third party idea at all. When I go to a physical gaming store (third party too), we make the exchange and then they don't care about what I do with my actual, physical product anymore. I surely can find patches and whatnot if I want them; I don't need to get them, commercials, bargaining agreements, product registrations, hacking attempts, crashing servers and other sheit forced down my throat as is the case with certain web-based stores.

In two words, competition laws. Steam aren't allowed to sell them too cheaply outside of sales. Pretty stupid.

I believe that's what they refer to as a 'result'. I doff my hat in your direction.

I have a question that is off topic.

Why the HELL is the Morrowind GOTY edition on Xbox so expensive? It's like £40-£50 on Amazon.

The older games get, and the less access we have to getting brand new versions, the more the price increases. Supply and demand. Look how much a new copy of http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Link-Past-Super-Nintendo/dp/B00002STXN/ref=pd_sim_vg_3 will cost you.

I have two copies of Morrowind.

I'm almost convinced the second one is either foreign, or a fake. Although I did buy it in the UK, but quite a while after release.

To the OP - the box art is truly amazing. Does justice to the game.

@kustirider - The front cover of my GOTY edition looks like your cover of the PC Gamer edition combined with the GOTY one. I'm talking about the backcover too, which is quite similar to mine. Been wondering what's written in daedric on the front, now I can find out. PCG logo ruined my daedric letters.

It's quite demotivating to see games distributed on Steam based on the region you live in. A digital platform not selling stuff everywhere. Maybe the publisher's fault, I don't know.
Also, as I know, Valve gets a cut of 10-30% of a game's price on Steam.

That seems to be the Dutch release. Which is entirely in English except for the cover text. :P

That one form the OP look really great! Wish I had one like that.

I have two Polish copies of the game, both form "eXtra Klasyka" re-editions, both without map.

I'll be quite happy to blame them: I have the same copy too, they were even too idle to take the discs out of their factory packaging to mount them on the box's spindle. It says something that the packaging was of such poor quality that even Amazon thought it was a pirated copy!

Spurred on by the OP, I thought I'd grab myself a copy of the original(?) UK GoTY from Ebay: spent the princely sum of £8 to secure myself an almost mint copy, which makes me happy. Strange to think that the same company is responsible for producing this rather classy package that a few short years later saw fit to produce the rubbish that I bought way back. Ho hum. Well, better late than never, at least I finally have a copy that I'm happy about.

Edit: what on earth was I on about?

Sorry for the bump, but I just found this topic, and found this a very interesting topic. I have different versions (the 'Dutch') goty edition, the Dutch version of the one posted in the opening post (normall original edition) and the (Canedian/US?) version of the collectors edition. Just wanted to post some pics of it, as they seem hard to get by and many people seem curious. Content is 100% complete for Morrowind, as it came sealed when I bought it.
While I was in the process, I also made photo's of the other TES games I have with box (unfortunately, I only have disk + manual of redguard & battlespire, but if someone is curious I can surely make a photo). Just a warning: in order to give people an option to zoom in so things can be read, picture size is quite big. Enjoy  :

I have two versions of Daggerfall, although I am not sure of either of them if they is complete (Morrowind is). Apparently (according to other forummembers) they are the USA and United Kingdom version, although I bougth them both (second handed) in the Netherlands. I think (but as I said am not sure) the USA version is complete, the UK version is not. As can be seen from the pictures is the content from the USA edition much nicer (better colors on both the cd & manual) than the UK edition.

I also own an edition of Arena. As with the USA Daggerfall, I think it is complete, although I am not 100% sure. It is the floppy edition, not the (much rarer) cd version. I suspect it to be the German version, as I bought from there, but am not sure about this. All text is in English. The game includes one of those old 'hotkey guides', with the Arena holidays on the back .

Last but not least, I also own Shadowkey. This one is, like Morrowind 100% complete, as I bought it sealed.

With great difficulty. The hours of fun I had trying to find Punabi (or was it Sulipund?) made all the more exciting by the irksome bunch of cliffracers queueing up to annoy me. Not one of my fondest Morrowind memories, though installing the "cliffracer taming" mod shortly afterwards probably is!
