[List] A smooth, well placed, HD, UV correct Morrowind.

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 8:05 pm

So I figured that there hadnt been a mod list like this before!

This is not a list of texture replacers, it is not a list of new models.

This a list of IMPROVEMENT to origonal meshes - such as smoothing out the strange angles that Bethesda put on everything, correcting UV's so textures dont look pulled and distorted and also all those floating objectd, cracks and mis aligned items that plauge our game! essentially its a mesh replacement list, but with a more specific function!

So sit back, relax and take a look at the list.

(List is sorted by install order)

You're thinking of the netch tower shield, I believe. The regular netch shield was an octagon.

I don't think the modder was intending to change it from the original intent, but following the pattern of many "round" objects in Morrowind being created angular, it was to update it to the more complex mesh that was probably intended from the beginning now that we have more powerful computers (see: Candelabras, Dwemer Towers, etc). It could be argued that all meshes in vanilla Morrowind are exactly as they were intended to be, but I think most people accept that a lot of the original meshes were created in a more angular fashion to put less strain on 2002 computers.

This is a fantastic list. What I've always wanted for morrowind was more detailed meshes and textures-- not super-updated change-the-look stuff, but "the originals only better."

The AOF Containers I wouldnt call smoother. They are bascially just as angular as the original meshes; might be an improvement to UV mapping? didnt see them with textures.

Yea, anything that has more corners than a square was likely meant to be rounded to begin with. The only reason they were not was because they didnt want to cause computers of that time to grind to a hault.

What, no On The Rocks?
I had thought about this but it causes barnacles to float - untill theres a fix that makes the barnacles and what not sit on the new rock meshes I thought I would leave it out.

Aeven's Dwemeri Dominion 1.0
This is a style change, not a fix.

Lexa's Picks'n'Probes Fix 1.0
I know I had a fix for this, but I cant find it and I am not sure if it was by lexa or someone else.

Petethegoat's Moon Sugar Replacer 1.0
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8916
Heres the link. There was an error with this that doesnt look like it ever got fixed.

Qarl's Flask Replacer 1.0
Needs UV fixes.

Rattfink333's Chainmail fix 1.0
http://platform.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40636
Cant seem to get the download to work.

Slartibartfast's Cave Texture Fix 1.1
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8656
Conflicts with UV Correct Rocks. You might consider this more of a style change than a fix.

Slartibartfast's ebony_cuirass fix
Couldnt actually find this but found this instead: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2862#Files

Soon ^^.
I have already replaced 1000 barnacles for the french version of MGSO, but still many to fix.

I don't know why tesnexus fubars my mods. (that's 3 now) I'll get it onto fligg's later. I found a fatter leg piece that should work. I'll mess with it later. If it works out the new one will be 1.2

They are more aesthetic changes rather than fixes :/ - I dont want the list to becoem a texture/mesh replacer list ( as there are thousands of those mods!) I was looking more for mesh replacers which fix bugs, model errors, the awful angular instead of round edges, uv map fixes, etc. That sort of thing

For more colorful, there's Vibrant Morrowind (by...Skydye iirc). It replaces texture and sky. Very pretty, and you can choose between a slightly older version or the updated one. They're a bit different in color themes in some areas.

If you want extreme color there's Lady Rae's. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I quite like it.

Both of those are available on PlanetElderScrolls.

I'll definitly try Vibrant 4.0 and there is update of that mod.
