Cheap Sneak Training Question

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 10:16 pm

Does it matter how many people are around when you sneak? Is one as good as ten, as concerns the rate Sneak raises?

Oh--This morning I finally realized that I can train Sneak and most of the mage Skills at the same time. Never occurred to me before, even after all these years.

No, it doesn't matter if there are one or ten folks around, as long as at least one is nearby and your character is sneaking undetected while moving (even walking into a wall works).

On the mage skills, especially after you can make custom spells, it is easy to create 'training' spells that use little magicka. Even destruction lends itself to something like a very weak and brief drain fatigue effect on self for training. Each of the spell casting skills can be easily trained if desired.

A sneaky way to raise your sneak right in the tutorial dungeon is to crouch down and walk into the corner of the wall, to the right of the door. There are some chains hanging from the ceiling overhead. That is close enough for the prisoner across the hall to be in detection range, but out of his sight. Put the auto move key on and make a sandwich. When you come back you will have a 25 in Sneak, and the game will not have even started yet.

You can do the same in guild halls. Go upstairs, out of sight of the inhabitants, but still close enough to hear them. Go into sneak, face a corner, and put the auto move on.

That's just what I've been doing; but I've always wondered if it helped having more people to sneak around.

The custom "training" spell thing is something I just read about a couple days back. Never occurred to me to do that in Morrowind....

I think I need to finish this game and move on to Skyrim.

In the meantime, there's a rat banging away at my shield, held up by a set of pliers standing atop my B key (on the other computer, obviously). Silly rat....

This tecnique is ok bit if in future you want or need to easily raise agility and have used up all your traininig lessons it's best to have it low, this way you'll get good agility too.

And sit down to enjoy a 3 hour movie! :D

I had Lothran practice his aethletics once in Bruma. He ran against his own house for two hrs straight. I do not want to know what he thought of me :shakehead:
