Not getting the radio signal for the Pitt.

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 1:51 pm

I'm on xbox, is this normal? The obvious answer is that it's not installed. But all the dLC content of FO3 is in the FO3 memory folder.
Also when loading my game the message "please wait loading extra content" always appears, so I assumed it's all installed. Any ideas?

Haven't played it in quite a while but I'm pretty sure you get a radio signal... Scratch that, I know you do; I remember the opening dialogue options being about why you followed the signal; I don't know why it's not working, try deleting it if it's there and downloading it again...

I had this issue after the xbox got its new dashboard. It happened with both Fallout 3 and Oblivion, where it would say that it was loading extra content, but the time didn't seem as long as it usually is. So I went in and found that BS was loaded, PL and OA loaded, but the Pitt did not. I did however, have the quest for it, just no radio signal. So I hiked up there and didn't see a radio tower.

I went back to my discs (I purchased the DLC on discs, not otherwise) and reinstalled, still keeping my old saves. When the game said it was loading extra content this time, the time it took waiting for the load seemed right, then I loaded up and found the radio tower. But still no signal. So I started the quest, just to the point where I have to go get an outfit, and went on my merry way, knowing that it was there. (I didn't want to start the Pitt at level 3.) After starting the quest, I got the radio signal lol, but by then it was too late.

When I reinstalled, I did not delete old content. I simply reinstalled over the first installment, letting the box figure out which was to be re-copied over and which not to. Seems I had to reinstall (FO3 and Oblivion are the only two games actually installed) to get all components to "shake hands" again.

Ok maybe that's what has happened with me. I didn't download the content. I used a friends DLC disc and installed all the dlc onto my memory card. But I use a different username now, and the dlc was saved under my old username. I mean the data is still their, but could it be it doesn't recognise it?

It's as you say the loading extra content only lasts around 2 seconds, seems too quick. So you think if I delete it all and re install it should sort itself out?

Appreciate the help

It shouldn't matter which profile you use, as long as the game and dlcs are all together one one xbox, and its memory card expansion capability. It is after all just a hard drive. Yes, try it, you can put your saves on the memory stick if it feels better. I didn't do this, but I'm on like my fourteenth character, and while still vested in her progression, won't freak out, (well maybe a little, doing Those! again would be painfully boring) as if it was a first time character.

BUT REMEMBER: I didn't delete the base game. I deleted the DLC and reinstalled just those. Not the game. Like there was a disconnect. So I "reminded" the xbox by reinstalling. And I did not get any duplicate files. And I guess I gotta say: don't draw a mustache on my avatar if something gets messed up.
But also note, that when I discovered this issue in FO3, I also discovered it in Oblivion, where I am also active. So I did this for Oblivion, and my damn Strange Door came back. So I figure, both are Bethesda games, LET'S DO THIS!!!11111 And it worked.

Ok I did go searching for the Pitt, from what I read it's north of oasis. Spent 2 hours looking and found nothing. I thought I had it at one point, just north west of oasis is a broadcast tower called foxtrot or something and you can activate it. Just sounds like a morse code.

I did, however, find Uncle Leo! And found a guy called leszno radford with a nail gun! And found some schematics for the shishkebab so wasn't a complete waste of time :)

I'll go and buy the dlc on disc tomorrow, delete it from my hard drive and re install. Can't see how it wouldn't work after that. Famous last words.
Thanks for the help big.

Sweet! Tracked down my friend with the GOTY edition and borrowed the cd again. Had to drive like 2 hours in between jobs but was totally worth it lol.

I deleted all my old file stuff, dlc, saves, the lot.
Reinstalled the dlc and entered the game and all the signals & quests were added :)

Awesome, glad it worked out.
Thank for the help!
I did visit various gameshops but all said getting fallout3 GOTY was as rare as gold dust.

Me: rob?
Rob: what's up mate?
Me: You at home?
Rob: Yes, why?
Rob: ..hello?...
Rob: ..Dave?..
( vehicle engine starts in background followed by wheel screeching)

Edit: Since we are on the subject, I read a previous post of yours saying you had problems if you did the point lookout dlc first? I'm on xbox too.
Not done any yet so it's not a problem. Just wondered if I should do that too to avoid any unpleasantries in the near future?
Also I'm level 15 now, thinking of doing some of the MQ, not done any MQ yet. Or would you recommend doing some add-ons first? Maybe OA before Pitt?

Cheers bud

I tend to do OA first, before all others. Here's the deal with the Pitt, and note, that I do not have the GOTY, just the game plus DLCs on disc. If Point Lookout is even on your harddrive, when searching for ingots in the Pitt, you will be unable to cross a particular roof. There is an invisible hole in the roof, which you fall through and keep falling, down to about Hell before you die. You can't jump over it. So, you need to delete PL, just so you can walk three feet, and cross that roof. However, if you went to PL first, you lose all your stuff if you do this. So, I go to the Pitt always first, delete PL when I'm ready to look for ingots, do that thang, and then when done with ingot searching, reload PL. If you're into all 100 ingots and all that, I recommend this. Otherwise, if you don't care about ingots, blow it all off and leave PL sitting on the xbox. If you blow it off, you miss out on about 25 ingots. At bare minimum, I try to get enough for the Perforator, unique assault weapon with a scope and suppressor, which means I need to delete PL to meet my goal.

Well for my first Playthrough I'll try and get all the ingots. But thanks for the advice, I already did OA the other day. I'll delete PL as I've still got my friends disc and do the Pitt.
