Can't find Armor folder

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 2:50 pm

I have started working on editing the texture for my armor but my progress ends there, I cannot find my armor textures because the armor folder does not exist. When I got to Programfiles/Bethesda/Fallout3/Data/Textures I see a few of the files but many including the armor folder aren't there!

Am I in the wrong folder? If so can someone point me in the right direction?

Thank you for your time.

They are packed in 'Fallout - Textures.bsa'. You need to extract the files with eg. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640 (look in the 'Tools' menu). If you have the disk space I would recommend extracting all of the textures to a different location than your Fallout folder so your vanilla texture files aren't overwritten by mods (or overwrite mod-added textures).

if it is a new texture you can just create the folder yourself It will override the default one without overwriting if it has the same name. But the texture doesn't NEED to be in the Programfiles/Bethesda/Fallout3/Data/Textures/armor. You can place the texture anywhere, even on the desktop.

Ah, silly me. Did you save a new texture in the Fallout directory and it's not there? I believe Vista/Win7 stops alterations to the Program Files directory as a security measure. The best solution is to install Fallout outside of Program Files to avoid this issue (rather than disable the security feature). I'm still using XP so am rather ignorant of this.

Thank you so much, turns out you were right Wetblanket I hadn't extracted them using the Fallout Modder.

I've saved the textures to my desktop so the security won't intervene, I can just put them in the directory later I suppose (I did this with a few other games).

Thank you this has been a real help.
