Terminal help

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 11:09 am

Hi, I am having trouble with a terminal. In my vault I attempted to create a personal terminal. It would execute tasks such as a haircut, open a store, repair items, etc. After numerous tries, using a quest that referenced the terminal or just using the dialog for the terminal itself I had no success. The results were either crashes or nothing happening. If anyone has any information to whether this is possible to even do at all or how to do it please say! Thanks!

I don't understand: were these desired effects you mentioned working, and now you can't get them working? Or, are you trying to make them, and that is where you are having trouble?

I'll assume the latter (i.e. you're trying to do this and you're having difficulty).

Well, um, yeah, I can't see why you couldn't do any of this. Using a terminal to repair items -- definitely. Doing the haircut thing: I don't know, as I have never meddled with the haircut feature, but I would imagine so. Opening a store... That, at least to me, is more complicated, philosophically and technically, haha. But, yea, in essence, I could see that working too.

And, as for making this, I would suggest writing a script up for the terminal itself, rather doing all this via a quest, if that's what you meant, :S. Actually, using the dialogue for the terminal is cool too... I can't remember off the top of my head.

Okay, so it seems I'm just rambling uselessly. Could I bug you to be more specific? That is, do you want help/ideas on how to make these things happen via a terminal? Or...?

You don't need a dialogue or quest, just create the entries on the terminal.

- Create a dummy NPC, DummyTerminalNpcREF you place in a remote dummy cell. You don't have to boher creating a real NPC, it is used only as a reference. But just adjust it's repair skill to the desired level.

- In the terminal menu create an entry "shopping" and in the result script type dummyTerminalNpcREF.showbartermenu

- same for repair. create an entry and type dummyterminalNpcREF.showrepairmenu

Of course, don't forget to create and assign a vendor chest to the NPC, not to the terminal itself.
