Problem installing PC version

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 12:38 am

I'm trying to install Vegas on Windows XP, I insert the disk and the Setup screen pops up with Install, Technical Support and Exit. I click on Install and a box with Installing System Components... please wait pops up, and another one with Steam Setup, Repair or Remove... and that's it. Nothing happens after that. What is supposed to happen?

Your PC is logged onto the Internet when you attempt to install?

Thats affirmative.

It's been about five hours now. Is it downloading Steam, is that what it's doing?

Steam's client comes on the DVD, but Steam is such a crude, clumsy thing, it will try to download the game and the client, no matter that those are on the disk. I've forgotten already what special hoops they make you jump though, and it seems I can't find anything on the forums here any more, not even with Google and a site redirector setting . . anyway, you have to MAKE the stupid Steam do what it's supposed to do, instead of what it decides to do.
