Seems some people haven't heard...they're done with this gam

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 7:21 pm

I see many posts of people still hoping for fixes for the bugs they are still encountering. Well it was announced way back at the end of Sept. that they were done with this game and are moving on. Sound familiar?

I'd suspected that this was the case, but it's nice to know for certain, thanks for the links. Last Bethesda game I buy new, I'll get Skyrim pre-owned, at least that way Bethesda won't get my money. Assuming they fix the issues with that game of course :whistling:

Amen Callidus. I find it pretty sad that Bethesda would choose to cut support for a game, one of their largest franchises, only a year after it was released.

How could you expect them to fix their broken games if people like you won't buy their games new so that they can pay the employees wages and get funding to keep the project going?

You Buy Game "New" > Money > Bethesda > Wages > Developers > Patches > Happier You

You Buy Game Pre-Owned > Money > Salesmen > Profit / Bethesda > In the Red > No Wages > Fired Developers > No Patches > Angry You

I would find it reasonible if they cut the support for it IF it was over 80% bug free, since the amount of money spent, even trying to achieve even 90%, is massive and time consuming.
You can spend 20% of your time fixing 80% of the problems
Or
You can spend 80% of your time fixing 20% of the problems.
It actually holds some truth in the development world, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_principle.

I bought Failout New Vegas when it came out. I thought I was paying for a game I could actually play, as it turns out after what, FIVE patches, I didn't. I paid for a working game, and got a broken game I can't complete, and that they won't fix. Morrowind, Fallout 3, Oblivion, all had bugs that were fixed, and I still play them all from time to time, so expecting them to patch New Vegas was perfectly reasonable.

The way I see it, Bethesda basically stole my money, they conned me out of it, and you expect me to willingly hand over more money to them? Here's what happened:

I buy game new> find numerous bugs> think "that's okay, they'll fix them"> get patches but still can't play game> Angry me.

Hell my game's actually in a worse state now than it was before the patches, so why would I pay Bethesda for a working game when it's entirely possible I'll get another broken-ass piece of [censored], that should be a great game?

I think your exaggerating, but I don't expect everyone to have the same experience when playing the game, but what I don't understand is how people can have problem, with all the patches that I don't get, while being on the same console with all the same stuff.
Thats what baffles me

Hardly conned, definition: Persuade (someone) to do or believe something, typically by use of a deception, since they never used deception or went out of their way to persuade you to buy the game.

If the games in a worse state now than before, delete the updates by clearing your cache and uninstall any DLC you have and try it again, or just leave as the complete original.

In terms of stability, it's worse, if I restart I've got a 50/50 chance of it crashing while I'm creating a character, but the patches fix some things. Besides, without the patches eneergy weapons aren't great, and i like using energy weapons Damned if I do, damned if I don't.
They advertised the game, the intent of which is to encourage people to buy it. Did you see any videos or adverts for the game which displayed a bug? No because any bugs would've been intentionally omitted, not doing so would defeat the purpose of advertising, but I think there's just enough room there for me to squeeze that argument in. I will admit it's not a particularly good one, though.

The deception is that you don't expect them to release a bugged game and not fix it, the deception was every patch, where they showed that they were fixing the game, but decided they couldn't be bothered. The deception is not announcing that fact in the game updates thread. How many posts have there been from people asking for fixes since the posts linked above? Do you see an official thread from Bethesda saying that they're no longer fixing the game? No. There's the deception.

Any advert I saw for the game was a cinematic preview which showed close to no gameplay, just the Courier shooting a grenade machine gun and a nightkin running out of invisiblity to attack, any bugs in the system couldn't be shown in 5 secs of gameplay.
They weren't deieving you with the patches, they have a pinned thread with all the problems they fixed on it and I have noticed the changes these made.

Now, don't get me wrong.. I have full faith in Bethesda and their ability to properly manage their software. I have enjoyed the Fallout series to it's absolute extent, seen every ending, played countless hours of time in which I should have been doing other things.

I also understand that it has been made known that there will be no other patches for New Vegas.

It leaves one to wonder if they aren't planning to release the Ultimate Edition in February 2012 with a snazzy new set of internal upgrades. Speculations I'm sure, but it would leave one to wonder what they were thinking if they knew of all these issues across the platforms and intended to release another pack without addressing them.

Food for though.

And thank you for the outstanding titles. If only Skyrim had V.A.T.S... Game of the year or not, they will never take my guns from me.
