DLC! :)

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 4:37 pm

Heya folks!

I was curious, maybe from my lack of looking into things, or otherwise...

But would it be likely we could see a Skyrim version of the Shivering Isles make another return? I played 'The Mind of Madness' to gain the Wabbajack and it just reminded how much I LOVED the Shivering Isles DLC back in good 'ol Oblivion.

What do you guys think? :3

I'd prefer a return, yes. However not the Expansion you speak of, but a rather earlier one - Bloodmoon. I would love to see Solstheim again after a few hundred years. =)

The Shivering Isles was definitely my favorite location, so why not take up Sheogorath's offer and come visit him. Maybe share a strawberry torte?

we wont be going back to to the zones we had in previous game for a long time, count on that

id be happy myself if they actually come up with something worth playing, rather than useless stuff like horse armor or killcams

At least, unlike horse armor, new killcams are free. That's important.

I think a foray into High Rock, Hammerfell or Morrowind's borer areas would be fun. Or delving even deeper into new areas of Blackreach, or an out-and-out war with the Forsworn to determine the fate of the reach.

My preference would actually be extensions to the civil war, many of the missions would have non-combat options. For example, there could be a post-Stormcloak quest where you could convince Ulfric to go full isolationist or to try to integrate non-Nords into Independent Skyrim's society. Or post-Imperial, you could alternatively go along with the Empire's will as regards the Thalmor or start your own mini-insurrection in secret with unspoken approval by Tullius.

Or let's emphasize that we're replaying Talos at the end of the Civil War. Rebel, Ruling King and the... other one who gets his hands dirty.

that would be good if we had the option to turn them off, but we don't

one of the reasons i didnt get whatever update includes them, i hate killcams blocking my controls while the guy behind me stabs me

I hope they don't return to the shivering isles, there's more potential elsewhere.

I like Tengen's civil war ideas, but with all the whining people did over the DICE reveal combined with past expansions, I guess new content is much more likely than expanding on what's there. Skyrim borders provinces not likely to be visited again, an expansion set in any of those would be pretty damn cool.

I would really like to see Morrowinds mainland. Specifically the areas that were supposedly invaded by Nordic and Orcish Mercenaries in the early 4th Era. I want this for several reasons.

It would show people how unique TES is with the revelation of the Dunmer and all their goodies like Bonemold armor, Giant Insects, Cliffracers Mushrooms, etc etc...without having people who do not enjoy Lore delving having to delve to really figure out that TES has amazingly rich Lore. It would also be a very needed stylistic break from all that snow and would be something exceedingly strange for an Expansion like the Shivering Isles was. The Nordic, Orcish and Dunmer Dynamic would be pretty interesting to see as well and could even be part of the Civil War questline as a gathering of support for one side or the other(Imperial/Stormcloak). We never actually saw what mainland Morrowind looks like. Only one city and none of the landscape. It would also be a great venue for revealing exactly what is going on in Morrowind and has been going on for the past 200 years and what part if any they played in the Great War. Is the Temple still around in any recognizable form? Has slavery truly been abolished or did the second Arnesian War cause the Dunmer to rescind their abolishment of Slavery? How big of an impact did that War and the Red Year have on Morrowind?

There are also a lot of interesting creatures and monsters in Morrowind and they could use the Dunmer connection with Daedra and Daedric Ruins to reintroduce all the many missing Daedra from the game in an organic and smooth way. There are also many other interesting things like the Great Houses, Morag Tong, Camonna Tong, remnants of various religious organizations like the Ordinators or Buoyant Armigers, Crazy Telvanni Wizards arbitrarily blowing people up....Argonian forces or descendants of the invaders with an increased presence in Morrowind.

Parts of Mainland Morrowind would be perfect. So would parts of Hammerfall and/or High Rock as they too were never fully seen with the exception of Arena like all the other provinces/nations.

I also miss the Bonemold Armors as I feel like nothing really matches the Dunmer in Skyrim. The Ebony and Glass Armors do not feel like a Dunmer design imo. A wee bit frustrating. Too bad no one has made any mods for those armors yet that I am aware of.

I have completely no Idea why, but when I got Shivering Isles for Oblivion, In the process of doing the Quests, the place started giving me a really boring feeling and made me not even want to play Oblivion O.o
kind of like the feeling where you literally have nothing else to do in a game, but I did.

Because of being scarred with an odd experience with Shivering Isles, I would rather it not return.
although revisiting Cyrodiil would be cool, going down memory lane there in awesome graphics would intrigue me :D

I think the next DLC should be into another daedric princes realm, preferably Moonshadow which is Azura’s. I think they could do something cool there and id like to see it.

Nah, I'd rather have something fresh and new - which is why I enjoyed Shivering Isles in the first place.

If they rehash old locations I will be very disappointed.

Been there done that, do no want to do it again.

NO!
We've already been there and there is no need to go there again (at least not that soon).
If you want to visit SI then go and play Oblivion.
Bethesda should give us something new and interesting instead of milking already milked cow.

Morrowind was the best out of all of the games for me. Tons of unique loot, different creatures, great quests.... I think it would be cool to see the rise of Dagoth Ur or something totally new never seen before.

I agree with this. Go some place new. Artaeum. Some other daedric realm. A city in Highrock. Heck, maybe do a Tribunal-style thing and make the Imperial City the way it was meant to be instead of the piddly thing we got in Oblivion.

Realisticly i'd like to see a part of another province like half of hammerfell or maybe the iilac bay, or maybe an entire small province like Elswyr, Alinor(summerset isles), valenwood or even high rock.

It would be really interesting to see a dominion run country like valenwood or alinor and it'd be a nice change of pace from actually being in a country thats not empire run. (it would be kind of like morrowind, but with no empire towns and forts at all - or very few).

Also Valenwood/summurset/elswyr would be all outlandish and different (much like shivering isles was compared to cyrodil or like how solthseim was compared to vvardenfall) compared to skyrim and i can definitally see them doing.

Another really cool thought is perhaps one of the other continents like akavir with their different races.

I want to destroy the Thalmaar, for a DLC expansion. Death to Fascism and Racism. Something black & white, nothing grey. In my magical fantasy world that can't exist, good and evil are real, and unlike real life, there are no grey choices to be made. I would like that.

But people seem to enjoy grey choices because, for them, it adds reality. Because you have to balance "the lesser of two evils" and "the devil you know" in real life, it makes the game about magic and dragons more real for them. I guess. Hell, I don't know. That's my theory.

I'd rather crush the Thalmaar, take out an obvious evil, than have more about a civil war between different shades of grey.

Not big on expansions right now given it'll likely cost $20 USD on PSN or 39.99 for the disc version, but I would rather them add a new loot generator for free maybe build upon the current loot system and make it better as well as custom spells for those complaining about it.

If the DLC just expanded the existing border in every direction a little bit, into hammerfell, cyrodil, high rock and morrowind that would be pretty sweet in my opinion. It could add the cities of Blacklight, Bruma, Elinhir, Dragonstar and Jehanna and add a portion of the Dragontail mountains also.
