Items You Might Just Miss...

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 11:41 pm

In order to obtain some items, you have to be in the right place at the right time (and in some cases, the right level too).

Here are a few examples:
  • Icebreaker
  • Merisan Club
  • Spirit of Indoril
  • Staff of the Forefathers
  • Steel Staff of the Ancestors
  • Succor of Indoral
  • Sword of White Woe
Does anyone know of any others? I have yet to find a complete list online, and, being a collector of items, I would like to be able to obtain as many as possible.

This is funny... coming from someone who has never played the game
You have ruined so much fun by attempting to play the game through online wikis and guides.
Also.... some of those items are not even that rare.

But the BanHammer has always been one my favourites.

You and I obviously do not see eye to eye on a number of subjects regarding this game. You have your playing style and I have mine. You should learn to respect the playing styles of other players, even if their preferences are different than your own (or most others). If I want to anolyze the game, I should be permitted to do so. If you do not feel like answering any of my questions (in other words, contributing in any constructive way), then why even bother responding?

Let's review these items and their supposed rarity

Icebreaker: Simply a generic leveled item which you can perhaps only get if you are that exact level but that does not make it rare.
Merisan Club: See Icebreaker
Spirit of Indoril: See Icebreaker
Staff of The Forefathers: See Icebreaker
Steel Staff of The Ancestors: See Icebreaker
Succor of Indoril: See Icebreaker
Sword of White Woe: Pretty much the same case as Icebreaker expect that there are 2 of these in a fixed location as well.

If you really want rare items then you should try getting Eltonbrand, A Carved Ebony Dart or perhaps the Snowy Crown (weapon).

What about "Wizard's Staff" Pretty good blunt weapon AND You get levitation.
The problem with a carved ebony dart is that it's so rare, i only found them on Dark Brotherhodd assassins and then i sold them to creeper. ^^

Wizard's staff of couse forgot about that one. There are only 5 of them and all in a fixed location.
And yes the carved ebony dart is quite rare in fact you can only attain one if you kill the assassin without giving him a chance to attack you. Otherwise he simply throws it at you I believe and then it is gone.

I did answer your question. The BanHammer is a worthy response, it's a very rare item and is easily missed.
Sorry if I come across as rude. That's not my intention. I wanted to clarify to you that the items you mentioned are not really that special and you'll likely find more than one of each, and you'll even see them for sale in shops. (I wouldn't even bother carrying them back to town to sell them if I found one.) And my point was that by actually playing the game you will come to realize there is a huge difference between the game itself and studying info you see on a wiki.
A Carved Ebony Dart
Probably one of the most difficult items to obtain. I think I've only ever had one or two.

Daedric Face of God!

Mm'mh, and also those Tower Shields only(?) found on random Golden Saints.

To mention a few more that come to mind:

- Muffin
- Meteor Slime
- The Head of Scourge
- Ebony Arrows of Slaying, Deceit and Treachery
- The Watchman's Eye / even Pilgrim's Lantern
- basically many unique Bloodmoon weapons
- second Daedric Crescent
- and, Icebreaker on the cake, Eltonbrand :P

At least Morrowind doesn't have special timed events anymore that can lead to unique items - as far as I know! Like Daedric Prince summoning days or something like that.

From the items mentioned here so far, I have legitimely found only Icebreaker, Sword of White Woe, BanHammer, Daedric Face of God, Meteor Slime and The Head of Scourge and, I think, Merisan Club. Some stuff mentioned here I hadn't even heard from until just now!

I've gotten a couple Carved Ebony Darts. Not that hard if you can cast a real quick paralyze spell. But yea he does only have the one and he uses it in his first attack. Only problem i have with it is it should be poisoned. What assassin doesn't poison his weapons? :P
Oh and Nelacayne, i don't think i've gotten a single one of those lol. But when i played i never was big on the whole just wander thing. I like following quests. But im playing again from scratch so hopefully ill find some of them :D

The only ones I think qualify is the Dragonbone Cuirass, the Eltonbrand (has anyone gotten this accidentally?) and the Dwemer Puzzle Cube :hehe:

^ I don't think it can be gotten accidentally. Odds are far too small.

I actually coincidentally found Dragonbone Cuirass about a year ago. o_O It requires either luck or thorough searching, though. Guess I just had luck.

Definitely Eltonbrand. The requirements are so specific that you pretty much have to know what you're doing.

What I did in a later game was save/reload to avoid the DB encounters... built up my personal gear and enchanted it to cover me with Chameleon... slept in several select houses to hold my DB assassin collection. When I finally killed one unaware and saw that dart I was like WTF is this.

Those almost-nothing items the OP pointed out are just magic items with fancy names. With the right amount of power & resources, you can crank out some really awesome equipment.

I just had to modify the script to present the message, "Go to Hell, Duke!". It seemed a bit more real for the game. :P

The Ring of Phynaster was always my favorite find.

Except when you have the GotY edition of Morrowind, then you don't need those requirements. The requirements of having a specific amount of gold doesn't count for the GotY.

Azura's shield is something you could easily overlook. Daedric crescent also. Auriel's Shield is also quite unique, as it is on a person and is not quest related nor you are pointed out to it.

Eltonbrand. No one has gotten that accidentally, I'm sure.

Edit: I know this is stupid, but the obvious answer to this question was Eltonbrand, but the OP didn't mention it. Where is the OP from? You guessed it, NC. :P (conspiracy theories!)
