Oblivion via Steam crashes after the intro

Hello, i've got some problems with my recently bought copy of Oblivion via Steam. I'm fine until the tutorial ends and i'm in prison, then when i walk ,punch sth ,or do sth else it crashes for me(Oblivion isn't working anymore). I already tried the K-Lite Codec pack.

What do you mean you're fine until the tutorial ends and you are in prison? The tutorial begins in prison. Do you mean the issues start after you leave the sewers or what?

Sorry, i meant the intro. So after the INTRO im in the prison, and if i do something then it crashes (Oblivion isn't working anymore). I don't even get to the sewers

I have a thought about this. To see if it is part of this, go into the system's Setup (BIOS), and find any references there to the onboard video chip in the CPU, and disable every such option.

It's possible that the Geforce driver is allowing the video chip to override the card. Intel's video chips tended to fail all over the place in the tutorial, if that is happening. I've given up trying to help owners of laptops with "Optimus" cards from nVIDIA in them. Those just don't work they way they are supposed to work, far too often, being very shy about asserting control (not saying I think you have a laptop, just that I've seen too much of this "shyness" from Geforces lately).

I changed the language of the game from german to english and now i have to redownload it again, and i got so annoyed from that, that i changed the language back, but it seems like htat i will have to download it again. :/

@Gorath I'm going to try that out as soon as the game is fully downloaded, but i have a pretty bad internet connection like 200kb/s so it will take it's time until tomorrow. Just to let u know that i didn't put u down.

I believe its a known issue with that particular sound chipset (Asus Xonar). Oblivion doesn't like the accelerated processing mode on the sound card (equivalent to Creative's ALchemy [EAX emulation]). Disabling "GX/DX Mode" or similar should fix the issue. I don't know whether you can disable just for a single application or completely.
