FCOM Renault WTF mesh

I've just added a couple mods to my FCOM setup, and I now have a missing mesh on Captain Renault in the starting dungeon, it's coming out of her hand, probably her sword or gauntlet?

I'm pretty positive this is caused by Adonnays Elven Weaponry overriding some OOO mesh, as I've recently installed those meshes for Addonnays Elven Weaponry for NPCs ad a couple of them overwrote files I already had.



anyone know how to fix this without going crazy?

well, thanx to formID finder the actual culprit seems to be john's leveled list overhaul, which gives Renault the faulty AKAVIRI DAISHO that shows up wrong.

should I just uninstall it or does anybody know of a solution?

and it was john leveled loot overhaul indeed, removing it fixed that.

I would think you can simply locate the mesh used in vanilla (probably under '\meshes\weapons\katana'), and then adjust the mesh path in John's overhaul with Nifskope.

it's a great idea but...

seeing a missing mesh right at the start of the game makes me think this would be a more widespread issue.

it could be that the version uploaded on dropbox is not the real 1.13 OOO/FCOM compatible version, but maybe a intermediate between 1.0 and 1.13?

I mean I would expect any single person trying the mod to notice a missing mesh on her... if somebody has the 1.13 archive that was on tesnexus, could you check if the .esp files version read 1.0 like mine or 1.13?

how long would it take to do the modification you talk of with nifskope? I have no idea how nifskope works :D

If it's not too long, I could do that tweak and then test if the issue is widespread, hopefully not

You are probably correct that normally the mesh is not missing, but something in your LO is causing the problem. Presumably you are already using BOSS, but if not start with that. If that is not sufficient, I would next suggest you see if it can be corrected by using a Bashed Patch from Wrye Bash. I don't use either FCOM or OOO, so I'm afraid that's about all I can suggest other than asking in threads specific to those overhauls.

Edit: The thread 'http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1368784-crashing-when-approaching-missing-pauldron-in-bliss/' has some excellent suggestions for someone else having a missing mesh problem.

As for trying to fix it yourself, suggest you look at http://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php/Better_Retextures_:_Detailed_Guide_For_NifSkope_and_the_GIMP article on the CS Wiki to see if it's something you are willing to tackle. It's not very difficult once you figure out which tool to use when.

it's fixed, I had to unpack the bsa. for some weird weird reason oblivion just wouldn't load it :)
