THE most horrible things-

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 12:41 am

-that are forced upon you. Okay the story is my parents would never think of letting me play this game, i can turn off gore no prob, but theres still [censored]13 bomber flying overhead. just recenty i got internet on the pc and found out about a mod that filter out bad language, and my mom doesent like killing people so since im on pc i can typ "disable" so what are horrible situations that cant be bypassed. (not like in skyrim with the cannibles i could just kill them)

Being forced to help the Brotherhood and being forced to attack the Enclave.

Yes, I am serious.

Yep. It should be the other way around.

People shouldn't be forced to support any faction.

Fo3 is almost exclusively killing. FONV is more your type, and mine too since its an all around better and freedom game than 3.

The people from bethesda know why they put 18+ warning, I think killing shouldn't be underestimate because people will start to consider it as normal or hobby. Playing games like this can affect one's behavior a lot, I did study psychology of it.
Forcing someone is never consider to be a good or proper education and raise children, I agree. The best way is to guide, direct and let making own choices

I dunno how old you are, my son and I don't have Skyrim yet....

I let my son play Oblivion no problem. He is very mature for his age. When he gets scared, he walks next to the guards on the road. He is a follow the quest marker kinda kid, and will never delve deep, at least not yet.

I will not let him see FO3. End of story. He's not that mature. Soon, but not yet. I don't think you get experience points for typing disable, but then again, I'm on 360. Not having Skyrim, what's the difference between killing cannibals in the game, as you mentioned, versus killing someone in fallout? I don't know, but perhaps someone knows what the difference is.

Well, yes. But I you had to, I'd choose the Enclave. :P

I guess parents could be confusing, when they think there is (in games) a good killing and bad killing or killing people is bad and killing creatures and bad people is good. Quite bounded, shallow thinking. In my opinion killing people in the games(and mostly this realistic, with blood effects) CAN be defective for children and may leads to disrespect of life, and killing creatures might be considered as a destroying things, not like taking life of human, ..But both are not acceptable. It depends on the personality of man, everyone has his level of tolerance of violence. And children are forming this level during their raising and maturing. Nobody could say what ''is'' moral or not, only what is ''considered to be'' moral in common and in this society.
It is good when parents wants to protect children from violence, but ignorance of the reality and existence of violence may not be useful too. It's the matter of choice.

The mod to remove bad language is for New Vegas not Fallout 3.

You're 24 and you still let your mom call all the shots? I think you are old enough to make your own decisions.

He's jobless, lives with his parents and didn't pay for the game?

Or he's below 18 years old.

I'm guessing there's some way to disable the gore entirely since the German version has that.
And it sounds like you'd do better with Vegas. The killing of FO3 is more "mindless killing," where you just run around causing explosions and watching body parts fly, all in the name of day-to-day survival. New Vegas demands more that you think about your actions and think about what it means to kill, and offers plenty of peaceful solutions.
